The Palace Museum received a     1    (value) painting, The Landscape Map of the Silk Road,     2     was donated by Xu Rongmao, chairman of Hong Kong Shimao Group, on November 30,2017.

The 30-meter-long scroll(卷轴) is painted on silk. The painting describes trade routes(路线)     3    (start) at Jiayuguan Pass in Northwest China’s Gansu Province to Tianfang city. now the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. As many as 221 cities in what now are some 10 countries are     4     the scroll key spots along the ancient Silk Road, like Gansu Province's Dunhuang, Mecca, Damascus, Esfahan in Iran and Samarqand in Uzbekistan were included.

The map, which contains a large amount of geographic information, proves that China     5    (have) the world’s best mapping techniques at that time.     6     also shows Chinese people had had a clear understanding of the outside world     7     Western maps came into the country.

Obviously, the map is a     8    (contribute) of ancient Chinese geography to the whole world. It reflects the frequent business and cultural communication between China and     9    (country) along the ancient Silk Road.
