Whether you want to enjoy your favorite tunes like ever before, or to watch holiday films, there are tons of great deals. Below you’ll find a headphone that suits you, hand-picked by the Gear reviews team.
Son WH-1000XM3 Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones for $278 ($72off)
Amazon, Best Buy
With fantastic sound, more than 30 hours of battery life, and extreme noise-canceling, the WH-1000XM3 are our favorite wireless headphones.
Apple AirPods Pro for $235 ( $15 off)
Amazon
These are Apple's newest AirPods, and we really like them. The discount isn't the greatest, but it's probably the best deal you'll find on AirPods Pro this holiday season, since they’re brand new.
Four-Driver Earbuds for 146 ($7 off)
Amazon
Most headphones have a single driver that makes all the sound, but these have four, which helps them balance frequencies more steadily, creating a wider soundstage, and providing clearer separation between guitars, keyboards and vocals(歌唱部分).
Beats Studio 3 Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones for $200 ( $150 off)
Best Buy( $200), Amazon($250), Walmart($280)
They're a little fancy, but if you are after some well-made, stylish, and functional headphones, the Beats Studio 3 is a good option. But with a $200 deal at Best Buy, and fairly steep discounts at Amazon and Walmart, they're actually a pretty good value this weekend. Just don’t expect the same noise-canceling quality you'll find on the Sony WH-1000XM3 above.
Note: We will update this post through the weekend with new deals. If an item is no longer at its deal price or sold out, we cross it out. Besides, when you buy something using the links in our stories, we may earn a small commission (回扣). Here is how it works.

This year, the physical show returned to Las Vegas, Nevada. But the number of attendees decreased by about 70 percent. CES is produced by the Consumer Technology Association. It’s known as the place where many companies across the globe show their latest technology offerings. Here is a look at some of the top products presented at CES 2022.
AirSelfie camera
Electronics maker AirSelfie launched its latest self-flying camera designed to take “selfie” pictures. The new device, called Air Pix, is a small, light camera that flies through the air and takes high-quality photographs and videos. A video on the company’s website explains that Air Pix can fly, frame and take pictures all by itself before landing back on the user’s hand.
Labrador’s assistive robot
Robot maker Labrador announced the launch of its Retriever robot. The small, self-driving machine is designed to hold things and, as its name suggests, also retrieve (取回) things. The robot can be controlled by voice commands or from an app on a phone. It can also be programmed based on an exact map of a user’s home. The company says the Retriever is designed “to serve as an extra pair of hands and lighten the load of everyday tasks in the home”.
Self-driving tractor
American-based farm equipment producer John Deere presented a fully self-driving tractor. The company says the vehicle is equipped with six different cameras and a series of sensors to guide the tractor through the fields. Farmers can control the vehicle and see the tractor’s progress in real time through a mobile device. John Deere says the concept is to help farmers do more work with fewer tools and other people.

Best for young children LeapPad Explorer 2, £68 Aimed at children between three and nine (though a nine-year-old might find it a little simple), it comes in pink or blue and with five built-in education games (you can buy more). Besides, the LeapPad does not allow access to the internet — so it is impossible for your child to meet with anything inappropriate. Pros: The education games are well-designed, the built-in video camera is a fun way to play at being a film director. Cons: Some of the games are shockingly expensive. And the power adaptor is not included. | Best for teenagers iPad 4th generation, £399-£659 The iPad is still the market leader, and for good reason. If the teenager in your house enjoys playing computer games, the latest offering from Apple is the one to choose. Pros: No other tablet can compete with the near one million ‘apps’ (the name Apple created for specially-designed downloadable programs) available for the iPad. Simple to use, even for those who usually struggle with technology. Cons: Considerably more expensive than most competitors. |
Best for working parents Microsoft Surface, £399-£559 Tablets are brilliant for leisure — but what if you want to do a bit of work? No tablet can yet compete with a full-size laptop computer, but this is the only tablet that allows you to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint (they are all pre-installed and included in the price) and you can buy a pretty lovely mini- keyboard for typing letters and emails, which also doubles up as the cover. Pros: The Surface is good for watching movies — a bonus when stuck in the airport on a business trip — and surfing the internet. Con: The keyboard is an expensive add-on — costing up to £109. It might be cheaper to buy a laptop (though a tablet is much smaller and lighter). | Best for bookworms Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, £109 Nearly all tablets let you download books. It's a great way to take a mountainous pile of hardbacks on holiday without stuffing your suitcase. But most tablets have a shiny screen — which can be very distracting (分心) when you're trying to read. The Paperwhite is different: its matt screen and crisp black lettering imitate the look of words on paper brilliantly. And yet you can still read the words in the dark. Pros: Easy on the eye, excellent battery life, 180,000 free books (if you subscribe to the Amazon Prime customer loyalty service) plus hundreds of thousands more to buy. Cons: No TV, films, games, internet or camera. |

Angamuco, Mexico
The city of Angamuco in North America, built around AD 900, is thought to have had 100,000 citizens and included pyramids, road systems, vegetable gardens and ball courts. It was a major center for the Purepecha, competitors to the Aztec peoples. Both of their cultures were destroyed in the 16th century when Europeans introduced bad diseases there.
Termessos, Turkey
Alexander the Great once compared this great city — located 1,000 meters up a mountain — to an eagle's nest. And despite surrounding it in 333 BC,the failed to take it. The most famous site of this city was a Roman-style theater. The city was abandoned around 200 AD because of a big earthquake.
Gedi, Kenya
Lying on the Indian Ocean coast, among thick forests, this settlement is thought to have been founded around the 13th century. Gedi had running water and flushing toilets. Scientists have also found vases from the Ming Dynasty and Venetian glass on the site. Its abandonment several centuries later still remains a secret.
Mohenjo-daro, Pakistan
Founded around 2500 BC, this Indus Valley city had a street system and a complex drainage (排水) system. The city developed successfully, with up to 40,000 settlers living off the floodplain which was rich in good soil, and traded with Mesopotamia. However, the cause of its decline from 1900 BC still puzzles scientists today.
Priyat, Ukraine
After reactor No.4 at Chernobyl exploded in April 1986, giving off deadly radiations (放射物) into the atmosphere, several nearby settlements were moved elsewhere. Among them was Priyat, once a city built to house nuclear (核能) workers, Three decades later, this place had been repopulated by deer, wolves and other animals. Pessimistic though people are about women’s chances in conducting business, three of us female college students, without any experiences, started our business with a greatly aggressive goal: to set up a seaweed farm in North Carolina and grow as much seaweed as possible to help cut down carbon emissions (排放) and pollution filled with nutrition from agricultural activities.
In the beginning, our ideas were either ignored or mocked by the researchers from whom we sought help and advice. But we carried on with our research–if others wouldn’t provide us with answers, we weren’t afraid to try to work them out by ourselves. We experiment on species which could grow in warmer waters, and we had identified potential markets into which we planned to sell the product. We've spent the last two years setting up the first seaweed farm in NC, applying for a patent (专利) and competing with five final teams in front of the United Nations for 2 million.
Despite all of our efforts, many industry experts remained unwilling to take us seriously. But as often happens in business, the same characteristics we were ignored for were, in reality, our biggest competitive advantage. Our age gave us the strength to learn from failure, and our background as environmental scientists, rather than businesswomen, helped us find new marketing opportunities. For every 10 farmers who claimed nobody would ever want to feed their cows seaweed, we found one who was interested. For every 15 cosmetics producers who refused to answer our cold calls, we stuck to the one with an interesting idea for a seaweed lotion.
Over the course of our early business development efforts, we have had access to a wealth of resources, programs, and individuals who work constantly to help us succeed. By staying focused on bringing our ideas to light, our team has demonstrated that entrepreneurship (创业) is exactly the right place for the hopeful.

Jeffrey Archer, a well-known novelist and playwright in the UK , has spent a very famous and much admired 45-year-long writing career creating bestsellers such as Not A Penny More , Not A Penny Less, Kane and Abel and Paths of Glory. Here he lists his all-time favorite reads.
Sredni Vashtar
BY SAKI (H. H. MUNRO) ,Dover Publications ,150
I put Munro's short stories equal with R. K. Narayan's. They are my favorite short-story writers. Both write beautifully, but they are also pretty good stories. It’s that rare combination of both. This book is a gem(佳作),as is Narayan's Malgudi Days.
The Count of Monte Cristo
BY ALEXANDRE DUMAS, Rupa Publications , ₹ 295
This is a masterpiece. It’s too long by modern standards? of course. If Dumas was around today, he'd write books of 400 pages. With no television, no other distraction, he wrote books of 1,500 pages. And the surprising thing is that he wrote The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers in the same year! You couldn't do that today!
Reunion
BY FRED UHLMAN,Farrar ,Strausand Giroux ,₹ 864
A wonderful insight into two young Germans---one Jewish, one aristocratic — in 1939, when they're both at school. This is a very fine book, which would help anyone understand the problems the Jews were facing in the late 1930s.
A Tale of Two Cities
BY CHARLES DICKENS, Penguin Classics , ₹ 250
I think this is probably a book I have reread the most number of times. I love the idea of him (Dr Manette)sacrificing his life for something bigger and more glorious than himself. Quaintly old-fashioned in the modern world—I love it. This was Dickens' most successful book, possibly because it was story, story, story, and impossible to put clown!
