After midnight it began pouring down. Suddenly，    1     the light of the lightning，we saw     2     steamboat in the middle of the river，and we were sailing straight towards it. Jim and I boarded that sinking ship,     3     (think) that we might find something useful on the boat. To our astonishment，we saw a light and some people in a cabin. Jim was too frightened to go on but I felt curious，wondering     4     was happening. So I put my head round the door and then I found two men.
