The Student Travel Exhibition

The Student Travel Exhibition in London is an annual event aimed at students in     1    late teens and early twenties. It brings together organisations     2    (involve) in student travel and students who want to travel. I have been looking forward to this event     3    I need an answer to my burning question: what should I do with my gap year?

The exhibition     4    (divide) into three areas. In the “theatre area” you can watch talks and presentations from experienced travellers. In the “vacation area” you can find information about recreational holidays. And in the “volunteer area” students who want to do charity work can find out about their options.

I arrived early on the first day, in order to listen to a speaker who     5    (do) voluntary work in Sierra Leone, a country in West Africa, the year before. The talk encouraged me     6    (find) out more about volunteering and I spent most of my time in this fascinating area. Although the vacation area was also interesting, it simply wasn’t as     7    (stimulate).

The highlight of the exhibition for me, personally, was talking to a very informative representative from VSO, an organization     8    sends volunteers to fight poverty around the world. I learned about the work that VSO is doing in countries like Cambodia, India and South Africa and I finally made up my mind that voluntary work is     9    I want to do.

All in all, now, I find the Student Travel Exhibition an inspiring and enjoyable event and I’d like to recommend it     10    any student who is thinking of travelling. It might change your life!
