Good morning, boys and girls. I’m here today to share a good story with you. It is a true story about a poor boy,     1    (name) William Smith, had only one dollar left. He was so hungry     2       he decided to beg for a meal at the next house. A lovely young woman opened the door. She thought he looked hungry and     3        (bring) him a large glass of milk. He drank it      4      (slow), and then asked, “How much do I owe you?” “You don’t owe me anything.” She replied. “Mother has taught me never to accept pay for a     5      (kind).” As William Smith left that house, he felt much     6      (strong) physically and mentally.

Years later, the young woman became seriously ill and     7      (send) to a big hospital. Dr. William Smith, now famous, was called in for the consultation (咨询). He recognized her at once and was determined to try his best     8     (save) her life.

After a long struggle, the battle was won. But the woman had to pay a lot of money     9      the treatment. Dr. Smith, then requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it and then wrote something on it. The bill was sent to her room. She opened it, and found a note on the side of     10       bill in surprise, which read: “Paid in full with a glass of milk, (signed) Dr. William Smith.”

Once there lived a rich man    1     wanted to do something for the people of his town. But first he wanted    2     (find) out whether they deserved his help.

In the center of the main road into the town, he placed     3    very large stone. Then he    4     (hide) behind a tree and waited. Soon an old man came along with his cow. “Who put this stone in the center of the road?” said the old man, but he did not try    5     (remove) the stone. Instead, with some difficulty he passed around the stone and    6     (continue) on his way. Another man came along and did the same thing; then another came, and another. All of them complained about the stone but not tried to remove    7    . Late in the afternoon a young man came along. He saw the stone,     8     (say) to himself: “The night will be very dark. Some neighbors will come along later in the dark and will fall against the stone.”

Then he began to move the stone. He pushed and pulled with all his    9     (strong) to move it.     10    his surprise, under the stone, he found a bag of money.

The Molai Forest, named after its creator, was once an area    1    (strike) by floods. Teenager Jadav noticed    2     sharp fall in the number of birds and snakes in the nearby forest area and wetland.  

The boy soon turned to his elders and asked, “What if all of us die like these snakes one day?” The grown-ups only laughed. But the boy comforted    3    (he), saying “I will make the planet greener.” 

From then on, Jadav started planting bamboos. He found a small island and planted many young trees. He worked     4    (extreme) hard at this for over three    5    (decade). His work paid off and the land became a    6    (beauty) green forest.  

In 1980, Jadav worked with a team    7     carried out a tree plantation project. And when the project was discontinued after 3 years, he continued    8    (plant) trees.  

Forest is his home now. He regards the recognition and awards he got    9     his wealth. Jadav finds all his    10    (happy) in the forest.
