One evening, it was raining heavily. An old lady was sitting inside her car, stuck in the middle of the road. It was clear that she badly needed help. A poorly dressed man approached her car but hesitated to speak.
The lady rolled down her window. She looked worried. She tried to smile as the man approached.
“Hello ma’am, can I help you?” the man said. The lady looked puzzled and said, “Yes.” “Please wait inside your car and let me see if I can solve the problem. By the way, I’m Thomas Anderson,” the man named Thomas said. He discovered that she had a flat tire and soon fixed the problem.
“I really don’t have enough words to thank you. How much should I pay you?” she asked, ready to reward him for his kindness. Thomas was surprised. He had never expected any reward from her, though his family would badly need money once their baby was born next month.
“That’s so nice of you, ma’am,” he said. “But if you really want to pay me back, the next time you see someone who needs help, please think of me and help that person. I hope this chain of love will not end with you.” He smiled and went away before the lady could say anything more.
The lady was touched. Anyone who saw the ragged man would think that he needed help, even though he was the one who was helping others.
As the lady went on her way, she found a small cafe down the road. She decided to have a cup of hot coffee. As she went inside, a waitress came up to her with a very clean towel so that she could dry her wet hair. The lady observed that the waitress was heavily pregnant(怀孕的). She looked tired, but she tried not to show it.

At around 6 pm, Jane and her husband, Charlie were driving on the road. They were incredibly excited because they would attend the dream wedding of her daughter Iris the next day. As they drove beyond a town heat their destination, the sky grew darker and darker and suddenly the rain poured down. When they were approaching a bridge,a wave of fast- moving water washed over the top of it.
Within seconds, the rapids had lifted the little white car into the river. It happened so quickly that they were too shocked to scream. Finally, the car caught an object in the middle of the river.
Muddy flood water was pouring into the car and rising quickly. Jane knew they had to get out quickly before the water rose too high in the car. Forcing the door open, Charlie jumped into the flood from the back row. Meanwhile, Jane grabbed the front door handle and tried to open it but in vain."Try it again!" her husband shouted anxiously.
Hearing that, Jane took hold of the handle, using all her strength, and was able to pull the door open. She came out of the vehicle and finally reached Charlie, coughing and shaking. They leaned tightly against the back of the Car and screamed for help.
At the same time a truck driver called Joe was complaining about the bad weather in his truck parked in his yard near the river. He had planned a road trip.Suddenly, carrying over the roar of the water, he heard screams coming from the river and rushed out immediately, spotting a car in the river."I've got to do something,”he told himself. But how did he approach the car in such a complete darkness? Without thinking twice, Joe returned to his truck and drove to the river bank. Then he turned on the headlights and got a long rope from it.After that, he fastened the one end of the rope to the truck tight.

American football can be pretty competitive. From old opponents to fan drama, it’s just another part of the game. There have even been all-out violent fights in the name of defending your team. However, one high school football player Mario Hoefer showed that his love for the sport didn’t take priority over helping a person in need.
One afternoon in September, Charles City High School football team Mario was on faced nearby New Hampton in a Friday football game. Mario was captain of his team and Carter the quarterback of the opposing team.
It was really foggy and awfully hot. Filled with excited audience in the stands, the stadium felt like a heated steamer. Every player was we win sweat even during the warm-ups. All this meant the game would be a tough one and a test or the mind and body of both teams.
Soon the game began and for the first three quarters, each team seemed to have a chance to win and they took the lead by turns. So exhausted was Mario running back and forth that he cramped (抽筋) up twice. Each time he got a cramp near the New Hampton sideline, his teammates came to his assistance and stretched his leg to ease the cramp. Though feeling uncomfortable and worn out, Mario soldiered on as Charles City protected a slim lead and New Hampton attempted a late comeback.
In the fourth quarter, Mario saw his teammates across the field break up a crucial pass intended for Carter. Mario was about to cross over to the other side of the field to high five his teammates when he noticed that beside him, Carter fell onto the ground, screaming in pain, his eyes wide open and a look of panic on his face. Carter grabbed his left calf (小腿肚), trying to move his leg in different positions. Judging from Carter’s desperate expression, Mario realized Carter was possibly experiencing an unbearable cramp just as he himself had gone through minutes before. But the New Hampton players were farther away from the quarterback.

As is known to all, the traffic is very poor and heavy. The bus or the train is really crowded. Every time I go home from my company or leave home for my company, I have to accept such a hard experience though I have been used to it.
On a cold December morning in 2020, I boarded a bus with my four bags which were large. Luckily, there were two empty seats left. About one hour later, a well-dressed young guy got on and took the seat next to mine. I was cautious. I would often come across guys who were eager to talk to a girl travelling on her own. So I was not surprised when he spoke up.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“Rampur Bushehr,” I replied briefly and put on my earphones to enjoy some music or to avoid talking with him. He did not bother me after that as if he had known my idea.
It started to rain and cold water was dropping through the roof right on to my lap. Seeing that, the guy emptied a plastic shopping bag full of clothes, which he pushed into his travel bag. He then handed me the plastic bag. I accepted it with a sheepish (困窘的) “thanks” before spreading it on my lap.
Minutes later, the bus broke down! The conductor announced we would have to move to another bus that would reach us shortly, and that there would be no more buses after that, since there had been heavy snowfalls. All the passengers of the bus got off and stood on the side of the road, ready to rush into the next bus. The conductor unwillingly helped me get off the bus with my luggage and I too waited with other passengers.

Once upon a time, there was a naughty (淘气的) and curious little boy named Jack. Growing up in the city, he had always been fascinated by the countryside and all its wonders. So when his mother decided to take him to visit his grandmother in the village during one summer, Jack was overjoyed.
As soon as they arrived, Jack’s eyes widened with excitement at the sight of the old-fashioned spinning (纺纱) wheel and waterwheel in the yard. But it was the large geese (鹅) in the fenced enclosure that truly seized his attention. Their white feathers, long necks, and distinctive cackles (嘎嘎叫) were unlike anything he had ever seen before.
Eager to explore, Jack approached the fence and reached out to gently tap one of the geese on its head. He laughed at his own playfulness, but little did he know that his actions would have unintended consequences.
The goose, feeling threatened and annoyed, let out a loud squawk and charged towards Jack. Frightened and shocked, Jack moved backwards, tripping over his own feet and falling onto the ground. The goose continued to pursue him, its sharp beak (嘴) coming dangerously close to his face.
Just as the situation seemed terrible, Jack’s grandmother rushed to his rescue. She quickly grabbed a broom and managed to scare the angry goose away, saving Jack from potential harm. Breathless and shaken, Jack sat on the ground, realizing the gravity of his action.
His grandmother sat down beside him and gently explained that animals, even seemingly harmless ones like geese, could attack if they felt threatened. She reminded Jack that it was important to treat all creatures with kindness and respect, regardless of their size or appearance.
Feeling ashamed and regretful, Jack apologized to the goose for his thoughtless behaviour. From that day on, he made a conscious effort to be more mindful of how his action could affect others, both human and animal alike. He learned that true bravery wasn’t about being fearless, but about facing your fears and making amends (补偿) when you were wrong.

Born in a small town in Scotland, she is the apple of her parents’ eye. One day when Jenny and her mother were checking out at the supermarket, Jenny saw a plastic pearl necklace priced at $2.50. Obviously, Jenny liked it very much. She stared at it for a moment and looked up at her mother. When the mother and daughter’s eyes met, they both couldn’t help laughing knowingly.
Her mother bought the necklace for her on condition that she had to do some housework to pay it off. Jenny agreed. She worked very hard every day, and soon Jenny paid off the necklace. Jenny loved it so much that she wore it everywhere except when she was in the shower. Her mother had told her it would turn her neck green!
Jenny had a very loving daddy. He ran a cake shop in town. Business was slowing down, and the whole family only made ends meet. No matter what trouble she had, the strong man always smiled in front of his wife and children. Every evening, when Jenny went to bed, he would read Jenny her favorite story.
One night when the father finished reading an interesting story, he said, “Jenny, could you give me your necklace?”
“Oh! Daddy, not my necklace!” Jenny said. “But you can have Rosy, my favorite doll. Remember her? You gave her to me last year for my birthday. Okay?”
“Oh, no, darling, that’s okay.” Her father brushed her cheek with a kiss. “Goodnight, little one.” Jenny held her beloved necklace tightly for fear that it would be taken away.
A week later, her father once again asked Jenny for the necklace after her favorite story.
“Oh, Daddy, not my necklace! But you can have Ribbons, my toy horse. Do you remember her? She’s my favorite.”

Adler lived with his mother, who was too ill to go to work, and a younger brother in a small house in Durango. Like other boys at his age, the small, golden-haired boy wanted to play with his friends and have fun, but fate had other plans. After observing what was happening in his house, the boy decided to do something for his family. He picked up his only toy, a ball, and left his house with a mission—to help his family.
Little Adler walked to the nearest store with his last toy in hand, hoping he could sell it. His innocent mind could only come up with this idea to help his mother, unaware that no one would buy the ball from him. While the little boy was selling his toy at the street, a man with the TikTok(抖音)name Ruben Cervantes spotted him. Curious, he approached Adler to see what happened to that little boy.
With tears in his eyes, the little one said, “I just want to sell my only toy, sir. Would you like it?” When Cervantes learned Adler was selling his toy to help his family, he asked, “How much is it?”Adler replied, “I don't want money, sir. I just want milk and bread for my family. ”
At that moment, Cervantes was so moved by how this little mind could possess such mature concepts. While other children at his age were enjoying and living a carefree life, Adler was worrying about his home's financial situation. Without hesitation, Cervantes took the ball from the boy, gave him a hug and said, “Don't cry, my boy. I'll keep your ball for now, hoping to play it with you one day. ”
Cervantes did buy milk and bread in exchange for his ball and sent him back home. The boy flashed a toothy smile and said, “Thank you so much, sir. I'm looking forward to playing ball with you one day. ”
