With the recent relaxation in travel restrictions, I found myself     1     (visit) Innsbruck, the capital city of the state of Tyrol in Western Austria.

The destination within snow-capped mountains is perfect for a short break. Even the approach     2     Innsbruck Airport by air is a breathtaking sight as the plane     3     (gentle) moves between the mountains on its journey to the runway.

The city is like an artistic     4     (compose) of modern architecture and historic buildings, serving both as a university town and a tourist center. Weaving my way through cobbled streets and well-designed buildings, I was impressed by this stunning city     5     was the Imperial capital 500 years ago, when the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I lived here, and it still lives up to     6     (it) royal connections today with the unique architecture.

I wandered round this small city,     7     (amaze) at the dramatic backdrop of the Nordkette mountain which offers skiing and hiking near the downtown. The Goldenes Dachl,     8     significant landmark in Innsbruck with its 2,657 golden copper tiles(瓦片)that shine in the sunlight, took my breath away.

Innsbruck     9     (steal) my heart with the stunning architecture, majestic mountains and friendly people on this tour. I couldn’t wait to return     10     (explore) more of this delightful European city.

Jiangsu, known for its unique blend (融合) of innovation and preservation, is a true treasure. I was     1     (incredible) fortunate to journey through the cities of Suzhou and Nanjing, both of which left me fascinated with their true impressiveness and eagerly     2     (long) to explore further.

My first stop was Suzhou.     3     (engage) myself in the local industrial atmosphere, I chose a hotel in the “industrial park”,     4     the coexistence (并存) of advanced manufacturing (制造业) and natural beauty was most evident, as it was located on the edge of a scenic lake, embraced by a vibrant (生机勃勃的) landscape. As I adventured into the heart of the city, the Old Town’s ancient waterways led me on an     5     (explore) of history, and the classical gardens offered a glimpse (窥探) into a storied past. However,     6     truly amazed me was the “energy of Suzhou” represented by its people who have enormous respect for their city’s time-honored history as well as     7     innovative eye on the future.

Actually, the mindset of modernization with deep respect for the past isn’t only unique to Suzhou     8     an indicative (标志性) factor of Nanjing. High-rises decorate the city’s skyline, creating a distinct contrast     9     the ancient neighborhoods, temples, and buildings that     10     (occupy) previously by people. I never anticipated my expectations would be blown out of the water by “A tale of two cities”.

This summer I travelled from noisy Beijing to Wuzhen, a beautiful village in Zhejiang Province. Unfolded before me was     1     unique image of this water country—the stone bridge and the water flowing, all like fairy tales to me.

However,     2     impressed me most was not the natural scenery but the scene of a grandma bathing a little baby in a wooden basin with the door open. My friends couldn’t help     3     (take) pictures of them. To my surprise, the grandma smiled and waved at us. All of a sudden, my heart was filled with     4     (warm).

I shared the photo and my     5     (forget) experience with my friends. They were     6     (simple) moved as I was, but at the same time they reminded me of the unpleasant experiences in big cities. We feel embarrassed to see people quarreling in public because they     7     (step) on accidentally by strangers.

According to a recent survey     8     (make) in November 2016: 45 percent of the residents don’t know the names of their neighbors; 63 percent have never devoted     9     (they) to talking to their neighbors; 67 percent think that the relationship between them and their neighbors is just so-so, or even bad.

Wouldn’t it be beautiful to say hello to our neighbors who just came back     10     work and give them a smile?

In the past hundred years, there       1    (be) frequent natural disasters, such     2    floods, droughts, mud-rock flows, seismic sea waves, earthquakes, windstorms and the stretching of new deserts. The disasters have killed millions of people,     3    (destroy) countless homes and wiped out numerous pieces of fertile land.

Now more and more people become aware that those disasters have much to do with the damage     4    we have done to the earth. We have cut     5    too many trees in the forests. We have badly     6    (pollution) the environment. We have shocked our own home-planet time and again with     7    (power) explosions of nuclear bombs. As     8    result, climates have become abnormal. Rainwater rushes down hillsides     9    (angry), and the underground energy goes up to revenge itself on us.

The earth is our only home-planet. It is urgent for us to stop damaging it, and to do our best     10    (protect) it and make it a lovely place suitable to live in, for we have nowhere to go and survive except where we are now.

Second, look at the objects in your house. Objects    7     computers, televisions and lamps can be tied to tables or    8    (stick) to them so they won’t easily move around.
