Camp Takajo provides an upbringing environment for campers, improving their sense of abilities and self-worth. We provide opportunities to explore all aspects of their personalities, encouraging them to take risks and expand their boundaries. By summer’s end, we hope that our campers can describe themselves in more positive and concrete terms than they did upon arrival.

We can help our boys develop:

Respect for oneself and others

Camp Takajo teaches the importance of making moral choices, forming tolerance and respect for others. Daily team games create all atmosphere of cooperation rather than “win-at-all-costs”.

Courage to face new challenges

Our diverse program of arts and sports provide an opportunity for campers to master skills of each activity. Campers participate in all activities that are offered at camp. Our ropes course and rock-climbing departments allow campers to see the importance of cooperation and perseverance in achieving their goals.

A sense of pride in belonging to a larger group

Campers are part of an age group. Older campers model appropriate behavior as they assume leadership positions.

An appreciation of nature

Our boys have opportunities to explore the natural beauty of Maine and New Hampshire on hiking and, boating.

San Francisco is perfect for a break that will both delight the kids and satisfy your sustainability principles. The city has banned plastic bags and bottles for years. Plus, most of the fun things to do with kids can be accessed without using a car and many involve green spaces. Head to the Exploratorium: an incredible hands-on science museum in a solar-powered building.

【推荐3】Here are some events held at the Art Gallery of Alberta ( AGA).

Family Studio at the AGA

The AGA loves introducing art to youngsters! Families with kids aged 31to5 can drop in to the

Gallery. Families will have the chance to play, create and work together to build masterpieces. Each week will see a new theme. The program costs $15 and all materials are included in the cost. This program is limited to 15 children per day，so you have to register online in advance, as spots fill quickly.

When: Saturdays

Time: 10 a.m. -11:30 a. m.

AGA “Pay What You May" Admission Day

You can access the AGA for a discount rate on Tuesdays! Starting Tuesday, March 9，admission will be “Pay What You May”(A donation of at least $5 is suggested. ). I' s suitable for kids aged 5 to 11.

Kids' Drop In Studio at the AGA

Want your kids to explore their artistic side? Youngsters aged 6 to 12 can check out Kids' Drop In Studio at the AGA! The program costs $15 but all materials aren't included in the cost.

Spots can be purchased beforehand over the phone during regular Guest Services hours or online.

Time: 1 p.m. -3 p. m.

AGA All Day Sundays

The AGA invites families to experience the gallery. Families can enjoy art activities ，programs and projects that will tie into current exhibits at the gallery. The fun is perfect for all ages, and the gallery admission is always free for kids 17 and below, and only the grown-ups have to pay.

●Sugar

●Cold water in a clear glass

●Hot water in a clear glass

●Spoon for stirring (搅拌)

What you do:

●Make sure the glasses have the same amount of water.

●Put an amount of sugar into the cold water and stir it with the spoon until the sugar disappears. Repeat this process (remembering to count the amount of sugar you put into the water) until the sugar stops dissolving (溶解). At this point, the sugar starts to gather on the bottom of the glass rather than dissolving.

●Write down how much sugar you could dissolve in the cold water.

●Repeat the same process in the hot water, and then compare the number of sugar dissolved in each glass. Which dissolved more? What’s happening?

What’s happening?

The cold water isn’t able to dissolve as much sugar as the hot water. Sugar dissolves in the hot water three times as fast as in the cold water. But why? Another name for the liquids inside the glasses is a “solution”. When this solution can no longer dissolve sugar, it becomes a “saturated (饱和的) solution”. This means that sugar starts forming on the bottom of the glass.

The reason why the hot water dissolves more is that it has faster moving molecules (分子) which are spread further apart than the molecules in the cold water. With bigger gaps between the molecules in the hot water, more sugar molecules can fit in between them.
