文章大意:这是一篇说明文。研究发现大部分人认为语言学习的应用程序在语言学习过程中对学习者有帮助。

【推荐1】Language learning apps are very popular in app stores worldwide—and are said to be totally changing language learning. But there has been discussion about just how useful such apps can be—especially when it comes to other skills such as writing and speaking.

Among the most popular languagelearning apps are Duolingo and Busuu. Research has mainly found positive results in the use of both Duolingo and Busuu. But most of this research concentrated on studies with learners who had also signed up for language courses—learners are using the apps for extra practice—so the results don’t provide a good snapshot(简况)of language learning through apps. My recent research study of 4,095 Busuu users hoped to find out if users can learn a language with an app.

Busuu provides learning materials(材料)for 12 different languages and has more than 60m registered users. The research found that there was an almost even cut between male and female users, and more than half of the respondents(调查对象)were between 18 and 25. More than half consider themselves to be at the beginner level and the proportion(比例)of users lowers as their language levels go up. Most people use the app because of personal interest, holiday travel, their career goals, or because they want to study or live abroad.

According to the research, more than 92%of respondents stated that the app had met or gone beyond their expectations and 86%rated the app as very good or good. In fact, more than 82%of the users surveyed agreed or strongly agreed that using the app had helped them improve their knowledge of the language they are learning.

As formal language teaching has moved towards more communicative ways of language learning, learners are turning to such apps where they can make mistakes in a private setting. In this way then, language teachers should not feel fearful of apps. Instead, teachers should encourage their students to use them for repetitive grammar work, leaving class time for more communication.

1. What does the author think of the research done before?
A.It didn’t look at learners who signed up for language courses.
B.It didn’t show positive results in using language learning apps.
C.It didn’t fully show if users could learn a language with an app.
D.It didn’t survey a lot of language learning apps.
2. What did the research find according to paragraph 3?
A.Most of the app users are teenagers.
B.People use the app for different purposes.
C.People at the beginner level dislike using the app.
D.There’s much difference between males and females when using the app.
3. What can we infer about people’s attitude to learning on the app?
A.Satisfied.B.Uninterested.
C.Doubtful.D.Unclear.
4. What does the author suggest teachers do?
A.Advise their students to use apps for certain types of work.
B.Ask their students to do communicative activities on apps.
C.Teach students with the help of apps in class.
D.Be careful not to make mistakes in public.

【推荐2】Question: I have been learning English for about 7 years.     1     And I still can't make myself understood in English. However, I love learning English. How can I learn English well? Please help me.

Answer: Many people have asked me this question.     2     Here I will give you several tips for learning English.

    3

First of all, you must want to learn. If you are not interested in learning English, no class will help you and no book will help you. So you have to be honest with yourself. Ask yourself, “Do I really want to learn English?” If you can't answer “yes” to this question, it is better for you to set English aside until you're ready and willing to learn.

● Set goals (目标).

To learn English well, you must set some goals.     4     It will also help you to see your progress. Ask yourself, “What are my goals? What areas would I like to improve?” Think about what your goals are, and review once in a while to see that you are making progress toward your goals.

● Practice, practice, and practice.

After you have set your goals, you have a better idea of what you need to practice. Just like the athlete   (运动员)whose goal is the Olympics must train(训练)daily, you as a language learner must practice language every day to make progress toward your goal.     5

A.I think it is not easy to learn it well.
B.Want to learn.
C.Reading is a very good way to learn new words.
D.Make friends with some Americans online.
E.The more you practice, the more progress you will make.
F.The answers are as different as the people asking the question.
G.Having goals will help you remember what areas you want to work on.

【推荐3】Want to improve your spoken English? Just think of the word CEK which stands for Change attitude, Expose yourself and Keep talking.

Change Attitude. This is the most common problem for anyone who wants to learn English.     1     You do not want to be an English professor or a professional translator, so do not worry about 100% correct grammar.

It is acceptable for the beginner to say he don’t know instead of he doesn’t know.     2     At least it is less annoying for them to wait for you for 1 minute to produce each perfect sentence.

Expose yourself. This step means to expose yourself to English environment.    3     But I would say that you don’t have to.

4     Movie, music, newspaper, articles and hundreds of tourists who walk pass you every day can be great learning sources. Another easy way is to go through the content of this website and ask if you have any questions.

Keep talking. Whenever you have a chance to talk or to test your skills, just do it. You can even assume situation and talk to yourself.     5     Everyone makes mistakes, Tiger Woods, David Beckham, Madonna, etc. Who are you? Come on. Let’s go out and create your own world of English.

A.Do not worry about mistakes.
B.The point is that the listener understands your meaning.
C.Of course, it is better to come to the US or UK to learn English.
D.Here are various easy English conversations.
E.Remember your goal is to communicate with people in English.
F.We believe familiarity can help you be successful in learning English.
G.This is 21st century and English is already everywhere.
