Peking Opera has always had an excellent reputation as the “National Opera”. When the opera troupes of Anhui entered Beijing, they were mixed with the Kunqiang and Hubei opera troupes,     1     (eventual) becoming the perfect example of Chinese culture. In the two centuries that followed, theaters began to flourish all over China. Born into a family of famous actors, Mei Lanfang’s performance style was elegant and beautiful, appearing reserved but actually full of complexity.
