With the cost of accommodation also climbing 16 percent, Hoo found more of an increase in domestic demand for travel. “This time last year, we were already starting to see caution where our holidays were concerned, as the growing threat of COVID caused uncertainty over travel plans. A year down the line and there's an obvious shift away from international travel,” Hoo co-founder Adrian Murdock said in a statement, “Although we now remain in lockdown in many parts of the world, many are hoping that the easing of restrictions will allow domestic travel by the time the holiday season arrives.”
Hoo, a British-based company, is an online platform that allows users to book a hotel room at the advertised rate or to make an offer on the room which the hotel can accept or decline in real-time. The figures it collected from 16 key tourism markets show that, currently, an average of 76 percent of all bookings are for domestic holidays, with just 24 percent of bookings being made for holidays abroad. This is an 18 percent swing when compared to the same point last year when just 58 percent of bookings were for domestic holidays.
At the same time, this domestic demand seems to have caused an increase in the cost of staycations. Hoo also analyzed hotel room rates across major cities within each nation and found that the average cost of a room per night has increased by 16 percent.

Zhuozheng Yuan
It’s the largest and the most famous garden in Suzhou, perhaps the finest of its type in China. Throughout the centuries, the central part of the garden still contains its original Ming Dynasty flavor. Since it is such a large garden, with caves, forests, islands, bridges, paths, and all sorts of pavilions and halls, no simple description of the garden will do.
Liu Yuan
The 2.3-hectare Liu Yuan was built in 1593. The garden has Chinese couplets beside nearly every gate and door. These are two-line poems written in classical Chinese. Their use in the garden is meant to set the tone for each section and add to the reflective nature of the experience by describing or drawing attention to different features of the garden in a poetic way.
Shizilin
At a little less than one hectare in size, Shizilin was built in 1342. The garden gets its name because it is filled with strangely shaped rocks which are said to look like lions posing in various shapes. The garden’s many paths wind through caves and more rocks than can be counted, making it easy to get lost. Apart from being beautiful and interesting, the garden is perhaps the oldest rock garden of its kind, making it important historically.
Huanxiu Shanzhuang
At 0.2 hectares, Huanxiu Shanzhuang is one of the smallest of the important gardens in Suzhou. Centered in a pond, a huge rockery, 7.2 meters in height, was created, using nearly every technique known in the art form. A winding path goes through and around the rockery, allowing for it to be viewed from many directions — each direction giving a different idea of what the rocks represent.

★ Who is the first Chinese astronaut in space?

Beginning of China's space program
In 1956, China opened its first missile and rocket research institute. Qian Xuesen (1911 - 2009), a Chinese scientist honored as “father of China's space program” was the director. With great determination to build Chinese own rockets, he devoted himself to China's space program. Less than ten years later, on July 19, 1964, China launched a biology rocket “T-7A/S1” into space with the first Chinese “astronauts”- 4 big rats and 4 small rats inside it. In 1968. China opened another institute for manned space flight. But that was just the beginning.
China's First Astronaut in Space
At 9 a. m. October 15, 2003, Yang Liwei, aboard Shenzhou V manned spaceship, took off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on the Gobi desert in northwest China's Gansu Province, starting his long - expected trip in the space. More than 20 hours later, Yang Liwei finished his last action of this trip by cutting the rope of the parachute (降落伞) and walked out of the spaceship, putting an end to Chinese people's successful trip to the space for the first time.
China's first Mars rover
On April 24, China's Space Day, China's first Mars rover has been named Zhurong, announced the China National Space Administration (CNSA). On May 22, the six-wheeled solar-powered rover, looking like a blue butterfly, left the first “footprints, on the red planet. Zhurong's first successful drive made China the second country after the United States to land and operate a rover on Mars.
Zhurong is the god of fire in ancient Chinese mythology. Literally, Zhu expresses the good wishes for humankind's exploration of the universe. Rong means integration and cooperation, reflecting China's vision of the peaceful use of space. The name is another example of Chinese scientific romance including Tianwen, Chang'e and Beidou, which also shows the Chinese spirit of exploration and culural confidence, according to Wu Yanhua, deputy director of the CNSA.
