There are many reasons why some cats are bad-tempered. It’s commonly believed that their temperament can be influenced by the way they are born or raised.
Changes in a cat’s behaviour can often be explained by a health problem. Pain can cause cats to behave differently. It’s easy to mistake a problem as behavioural, which in fact is medical. Should you observe a significant change in your cat’s behaviour, then a visit to the vet is the best place to start.
It pays to remember that cats don’t like to share or queue. Sharing of ‘resources’ such as litter trays and foodbowls can cause stress and anxiety for many cats. It’s always a good idea to provide each cat with their own litter box, food, water bowls and bed. A lack of space to hide from or avoid other cats, competition for territory and lack of individual attention can also add to household friction.
Moving to a new house, the arrival of a new baby, new pets and other types of change can seriously impact cat behaviour. Cats are creatures of habit and tend to be territorial.

You see, of all the people I’ve coached over the last 7+ years who believed they’re boring, getting to know them and their conversation style, for well over half of them I’ve concluded that this belief was just in their head. It was a false, limiting belief; and they came to see that too. So, statistically, there is at least a 50% chance that you’re not really boring. Think about this, very seriously.
If indeed you discover that the idea you’re boring is mostly a limiting belief, then it’s important to begin ignoring it and change your behavior accordingly. Try to open up, talk to people more and be more social, reminding yourself it’s okay to do so.
More important thought is to understand that the limiting belief you’re boring reflects a lack of confidence, and work on fixing this deeper issue. Only by learning to believe in yourself and gaining self-confidence will you be able to fully and permanently dismiss the perception that you are boring.
Now, confidence building is no invaluable process. It involves certain steps and actions, which if done correctly, lead to visible progress at a rapid pace. I lack the space here to go deeper into this topic, but I have created a special presentation in which I discuss it in detail.
Go here to watch the presentation and learn my step-by-step process for improving yourself-confidence and social confidence, which has been used successfully by hundreds of people before you. And make sure you watch it all the way.

Challenge yourself on a regular basis, she urged, but don’t just do so casually. Study any new topic hard, until you feel tired and frustrated. This level of effort, she added, is associated with increases in the ease of communication within the brain and, as a result, cognitive skills will be improved.
Her advice is based on a study of “superagers”, individuals of 65 years or older, whose cognitive skills are as acute as the average 25-year-olds. Lisa believes that what sets superagers apart is their ability to use the unpleasant feelings they experience when challenging themselves as a signal to keep going, rather than as a warning to stop and rest.
While she provides convincing data to prove how cognitively young these superagers are, I’m not sure her conclusion about why this is so gives the whole picture.
Are superagers simply those who ignore, or even welcome, the pain and frustration that comes with intense mental effort? Or is there some other reason why they spend so much time and effort challenging themselves?
This is important, because if the only way to maintain youthful cognitive skill is to expose ourselves regularly to pain and frustration, it doesn’t make old age look particularly inviting.
Contrary to her opinion, I think “enjoyable” is the key. If what you’re doing is enjoyable, you’re more likely to keep working hard at it—probably without even noticing any discomfort.
Making yourself work until you’re exhausted and frustrated holds it little appeal. On the other hand, finding an activity you love so much that you don’t even notice when you’re pushing yourself hard seems a far more attractive way to keep your brain active as you grow older.

Hot sun will dry out a snail's body.So at the least sign of hot sun,a snail draws its body into its shell and closes the opening with a thin cover. Then it goes to sleep.A snail will die in a heavy rain.So whenever it rains,it goes inside its shell house and goes to sleep.A snail can sleep for as long as it needs to.It can take a short sleep.Or it can sleep for days at a time. And it spends all the winter months in its shell, asleep.
In spring the snail wakes up.Its body, about three inches long, comes out of from the shell. When hungry, the snail looks for food.It can’t see very well. Its eyes,at the ends of the top feelers(触角)are very weak. But its sense of smell is very strong. It helps the snail to the new greens. Then the snail’s little mouth goes to work.
A snail’s mouth is no longer than the point of a pin(针).Yet it has 256,000 teeth! The teeth are so small that you can’t
see them. But they do their work.If you put a snail in a hard paper box,it will eat its way out.And if a snail wears out its teeth,it will grow new ones.
Mostly,a snail looks for food at night. But on cloudy days it eats in the day time.It cats all day long.A snail can go on eating for hours and never feel full.

Perhaps most rewarding has been educating people about animals and getting them excited about wildlife conservation. Hoping to build on my experience and become a better conservationist, I applied and was selected for the two-year Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leaders (EWCL) program.
Part of the EWCL experience is to work on a project that benefits an endangered species. Five other participants and I were partnered with Painted Dog Conservation and Painted Dog Research Trust (PDRT) in Zimbabwe. With the help of the Wildlife Conservation Network, we formed the Painted Dog Protection Initiative (PDPI).
African painted dogs are highly successful hunters and travel in large packs. They are also southern Africa’s most endangered large meat-eating species. PDPI’s goal is to address one of the species’main threats: entrapment in illegal wire snares (罗网).
Several years ago, Dr. Gregory Rasmussen, founder and director of PDRT, discovered that a painted dog he was studying had been entrapped in a wire snare, but was saved when the snare caught on the dog’s tracking collar, protecting the dog’s neck and allowing it to escape. Dr. Rasmussen wondered if it was possible to improve upon existing tracking collars so that they would also “catch” snares. Working with the Houston Zoo, PDPI stepped in to produce an anti-snare collar to do just that. We conducted over 700 trials to determine the most effective design and worked with two companies to turn the collars into a reality.
Now. Dr. Rasmussen is placing 20 of the anti-snare collars on dogs that live in an area full of illegal snares near Victoria Falls. We hope to make more collars and protect at-risk dogs all across Africa. I truly believe painted dogs can rebound from the edge of extinction. They just need a helping hand.
1. Which of the following is the most worthwhile according to the author?A.Taking care of different endangered animals. | B.Being accepted to work for EWCL program. |
C.Becoming an active conservation ambassador. | D.Generating others’ interest in wildlife protection. |
A.To find out painted dogs’ main threats. | B.To do research into painted dogs’ life. |
C.To protect painted dogs much better. | D.To control the rapid growth of painted dogs. |

My favourite is a little creature called the Tasmanian devil. If you are out camping in Tasmania and come across one, the experience might scare you! Tasmanian devils hunt at night, so you won’t usually see them, but you may hear their loud cries when they are fighting or eating. The noise they make could wake the dead. Frightening! They are about the size of small dogs and look like rather large black rats. They also have a terrible smell! Their diet is mostly dead animals. Fortunately, despite their name, they are generally not violent towards people.
Australia also has some animals that many people have never heard of, for example, the duck-billed platypus. Is that some kind of bird? Not at all. While it may lay eggs in a nest like a bird, it’s really a primitive mammal, with a unique biology. Its eggs hatch after about ten days, and then the baby platypus nurses from its mother like all other mammals. Its nose looks like a duck’s bill, and it has feet like a duck’s so it can dive under the water, but it’s covered in hair. Do you know what’s really strange about a platypus? The platypus doesn’t use its senses of sight or smell to find food. It has a capacity to find food in the water by using electrical sensors in its bill. There are only a small handful of animals in the world that can do that!
1. What two things about Tasmanian devils can bother people most?A.Their diet and violent behaviors. |
