A KidZania is an interactive mini-city created for children between 4 and 14 years old, where they can walk freely, exploring various activities. The goal is for them to learn about the world through realistic role-play. That's why you'll find theaters, shops, and office buildings inside the city walls along with pedestrians and tiny vehicles.
At these places, kids can spend about 20 minutes per session being firefighters, mail carriers, construction workers, dentists, nail technicians, bankers, or even broadcast journalists.
If a kid wants to be a doctor or see what it's like to be a veterinarian(兽医), they can get a taste of it, said Mike Laudizio, KidZania's” mayor (市长)”and general manager.
They get their hands in it, and it really gives them the freedom to explore the city.”
Since children learn best by doing, they are more likely to leave KidZania with a newfound appreciation for different jobs and a better grasp of how the world works. Best of all, while the kids work, they earn KidZos by doing their jobs well or by achieving small goals like washing their hands or participating in branded activities. They have the choice of cashing in for toys and candy at the gift shop or saving up in the KidZania bank for another day.
Our only question is when one of these will open for adults. This place looks great fun, and it can teach kids important lessons about the world we live in. Let's hope more KidZanias open in the U. S.

Fort MacHenry (Baltimore)
When the British attacked Baltimore in 1812, the buildings became important to the city’s self-protection. Francis Scott Key, a Washington lawyer, watched the battle through the night. This beautiful stone bridge was built in the early 19th century, serving as an important link on the National Road in the past. It was the nation’s first major highway, connecting the Potomac and the Ohio River. It is a popular area for fly fishermen, photographers, and history lovers. The nearby Spruce Forest Artisan Village has historic houses, small hotels, and recreated buildings.
Washington Monument (纪念碑) State Park (Boonsboro)
The largest stone monument on the top of South Mountain, built in 1827, is the nation’s first-ever monument honoring George Washington. During the Civil War, the Union Army used this high point as its signal station. Today, you can climb up inside and enjoy attractive views of the surrounding Maryland countryside. There are many historical things related to the monument and the Civil War battle of South Mountain.
B&O Railroad Museum (Ellicott City)
This small building is the nation’s oldest surviving railroad station. Dating from 1830, it was the B&O Main Linens first stop out of Baltimore, 13 miles distant. The editors of our international editions share traditions reserved for counting yourself one year older.
Lithuania

Japan
In Japan, when a child turns one, a ceremony called erabitori is held, where the birthday child chooses from a selection of items spread out around that represent the potential future. When a person turns 20, a coming-of-age celebration will be held on the second Monday January.
The Netherlands
When someone turns 50, a large doll will be placed in the birthday person’s garden or by heir front door; men have an “Abraham” doll, women a “Sarah”, based on a Bible passage.
Australia
A child’s first birthday is often celebrated with balloons and specially made “fairy bread”. Some families in Australia also mark the age of 21 with a souvenir “key to the door”, representing the young adult’s privilege to come and go from the family home as they please.
Germany
“In Germany, when unmarried men turn thirty, they are supposed to sweep the stairs of the local church or town hall,” editor Michael Kallinger says, “while women have to deal with the door handle.” This public act is meant to embarrass the person and motivate them to marry.
