One day a friend invited me to join gymnastics class that she had belonged to for many years. My mom got the needed information and within a few days I was ready to start!

When I got there, I was extremely nervous. The group wasn’t very welcoming so I was regretting signing up. It seemed they were comfortable with the team they had, and they didn’t want anyone to be added to it. But after working together for a few days, we all soon became friends. A month passed and I learned to do many things. I was excited and ready to learn back handsprings(手翻). Back handsprings are one of the main things you need to know for gymnastics because they are done so often. In my opinion, they are the hardest to do, but I was ready to try.

My friend was the queen of back handsprings, so she helped me understand each and every step. Our coach pulled out a handspring machine to help the kids who were learning how to do them for the first time. This machine is a block that has cushion(垫子) all around it. You basically sit in the mouth of the machine and push off with your feet and go backwards until you land on your hands, then feet.

Even with the handspring machine, I couldn’t get my feet right, so I had to try again and again. Impatient, some of the girls seemed to get angry. I was feeling like the new kid in the group again. The new kid that didn’t know what she was doing but everyone else knew it!

注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

Luckily, my friend, the queen of back handsprings, kept encouraging me.

We were next door to a school, and the teenage students often came and spent their lunch break at the library. This year, the new seventh-graders were rather cocky (自大的). There was one group we were having problems with: a crowd of teenage boys’ who were tough. They. wouldn’t listen when we told them about our rules, they. often left a mess behind, and they were generally loud and disrespectful, both to staff and to other customers. On several occasions, we would be forced to ask them to leave, because they were disturbing others. It was very frustrating for the strict library lady.

One day, one of our regular visitors, who was obviously pregnant with a raised belly, came in with her toddler (幼童) and her baby. They hung out in the small children’s area. The baby then waved his hands and kicked his feet to be let out of the baby carriage and soon was crawling (爬行) around on the floor in our play corner, chewing on everything he could reach, and the bigger one was all over the place. The mum was a little split in keeping track of them both.

I was busy helping another visitor when I noticed the toddler making her way over to the sofa where my teenage troublemakers were sitting. I tried to keep half an eye on the situation and be ready to get in, but a minute or so later, one of the boys got up from the sofa, took the toddler by the hand, and delivered her back to her mommy with caution. A moment later, the other boys followed.

I was half-expecting some kind of trouble, so I attempted to help the customer I was with as fast as possible, but when I was finished, I found that the general noise and disturbance that always accompanied this group of teenage boys seemed to have quieted down.

Police are likely used to people approaching them with questions. One day in Michigan, a police officer named Sgt.Heather walked to a mom and asked her a question regarding her family’s living situation.

The woman named Erin Harrison and her twin daughters were homeless, and she simply asked the police officer if it was illegal to sleep in their car. From their conversation, Sgt.Heather knew that Erin was going to be sleeping in the car so that she could get the kids to the school in the next morning.Erin told Sgt.Heather that she and her two daughters Hayden and Abbigale were driven out of their rented house because she couldn’t afford to pay the skyrocketing(飞涨的)rent price.

However, they needed a place to sleep. They’ve been surviving in their car on the parking lot of the children’s elementary school for a while now. They had nowhere else to go.Erin worked day in and day out at a local McDonalds to take care of her two beautiful daughters, but they weren’t able to move into a home yet.

When the police officer was faced with this heartbroken question, she immediately decided to help.As a mom, she knew she had to get the family a place to stay in.Sgt.Heather was also a mother and she couldn’t let this family go without a place to stay in.She quickly reached out to some friends and colleagues to gather enough money for a hotel room, so they could at least have one warm and comfortable night.

The police officer also gave a fun birthday party for the twins Hayden and Abbigale. They would celebrate their ninth birthday just a couple of days later. The girls were amazingly surprised and happy because their mother had told them she would not be able to do anything for their birthday due to their present situation.

It's common for folks not to know anything about the people who deliver their mail, but that certainly doesn't apply to these residents in Durango, Colorado. Their mail carrier, Seana Green, makes it a point to go out of her way and chat with folks whenever possible. Although she's had this job for 15 years, she didn't start the route where Marilyn Schmidt lives until about four or five years ago.

Marilyn, who recently turned 90-year-old, is just one of the many people that Seana has befriended over the years. The two of them love to chat just about every other day. This is made easier by the fact that Seana will park her vehicle, get out, and deliver mail on foot.

Seana walks through the neighborhood, and she does more than just deliver the mail. “I think of them as family,” Seana said. “A lot of them. I really do.” There is an appreciation between the mail lady and residents. That's why, when she hadn't seen Marilyn in quite some time, she grew concerned.

“I didn't see her on Thursday, and I didn't see her on Friday,” Seana recalled. “And when I showed up on Saturday and she wasn't on the porch (门廊) and the mail was like, just hanging out of her box. and I shouted through the screen door.”

At first, Seana couldn't hear anything coming from inside the home. Soon enough though. The quiet sound of Marilyn calling out for help became clear. Seana said that her voice sounded weak almost “like a kitten meowing (喵喵叫)”.

Seana was so frightened that she rushed into the room.
