Working well in a team requires full cooperation. It’s an important skill for almost every employee to have. Your ability to do your job is dependent upon others getting your work done, and others depend on you to get their work done.

Communicate well. Lack of communication is one of the biggest reasons of a team’s failure. Seek input from team members so they fell like a valuable part of the team. Communication establishes trust among team members. In addition, communicating well can help prevent and resolve conflict. Meet regularly to keep members involved and aware of your work progress. Post decisions where everyone in the team can see them.

Be flexible. In teamwork, priorities and responsibility can change instantly. Stay ready to shift focus. Training team members to be able to do parts of other team member’s jobs can be a valuable part of teamwork; being flexible helps to build appreciation for all the parts of the team.

Meet deadlines. Work hard to ensure you meet established deadlines when you work in a team environment. Others are depending on your work. Negotiate timelines with your teammates at the start of a project. Doing so allows you to have a say in how work gets accomplished.

Establish accountability. All team members must be responsible for the success and failure of the project. Although every team doesn’t need a leader, teams require a formal way to ensure everybody does his part. Try using meetings to report on progress.

Celebrate accomplishments and encourage the team. Senior executives may not always recognize the importance of some team members’ work. Share congratulations at team meetings and talk about whose work are invaluable in helping you get your work done.

【推荐1】The other day I heard a few local musicians talking:

“I hate all the terrible pianos in this town. I hate that rubbish they play on the radio. They can’t even understand a bit of music.”

“ I’m never playing in that club again. Too many drunks and nobody listens to us.”

But one younger musician said, “There are a few clubs that book my band a few nights a month, and I’m trying to find other places to play. I’m also looking to book a few summer festivals this year.”

I’ve heard that you are the average of the five people whom you spend the most time with, or to put it another way, you are who your friends are.

Attitudes are important. Whether they’re positive or negative, they’re rubbing off on you. If you’re around people who complain about lack of work and about other musicians, or blame others, and you play the role of victim, chances are you’ll start to as well. So it’s time to take a look at the people you call “friends”.

This is an easy exercise: Make a list of the people who you hang out with, and simply stop spending time with the negative people on your list. Set a new standard for yourself and don’t become friends with people who fall below that standard.

Keep successful people around you and your own chances for success will be much better. Ask them how they do it. Ask if they will help you get the work you’re looking for, or maybe give you some advice to help you on your career path.

1. The musicians’ words at the beginning are written mainly to show ______.
A.the musicians have a bad life

A.they’ll push you ahead

3. From Paragraph 7, we can ______.
A.make more friends
B.know the right way of making friends
C.develop a better relationship with our friends
D.arrange the time with our friends properly
4. Which of the following would be the best title for this passage?

【推荐2】This is a photo of a similar car I own. It’s a photo of a Skoda Fabia. I drive one too. Mine   has a black roof though other than that they are the same model and the same colour. A young guy also got out of a similar car as I was approaching mine. I laughed and was prepared to leave it at that. The young guy continued to engage in conversation with me.

He asked me how I found the car in terms of driving. I was motivated about it. It turned out that it was his first day to drive the car and it was brand new and it was a gift from his parents and he’d just passed his driving test today! What a coincidence(巧合)!

Well, this was a special moment for Nicholas. Who get s a new car the day they learn to drive and then drives into a garage and gets engaged in dialogue with a woman who’s driving the same model of car? Yes, beautiful synchronicity (同步性) in full view.

I wanted to make this moment special for Nicholas, and I wanted to gift him something. Thinking on my feet, I thought I’d buy him a lottery ticket but something about that didn’t sit right with me, and it wasn’t special enough. Then I got the push, the whisper, the beautiful whisper.

I stretched into my car and removed my Guardian Angel key ring which I had attached to my front mirror. It was there to keep me safe. My birthday is on Guardian Angel’s Day too, so this is pretty special to me. I gave it to Nicholas and he was happy to receive it. Nicholas gave me a big hug.

Nicholas was not an overconfident guy. He also told me his mum was only out of hospital and now he’d be able to help her get about.

I’ll order myself another Guardian Angel key ring for my car safe in the knowledge that my Guardian Angel will not be protecting me without the key ring. As for Nicholas, well, I wish he and his passengers a lifetime of safe driving.

【推荐3】There are some basic ways that we encounter potential new friends, the first of which is closeness. When we cross paths regularly, live in the same neighborhood, or share a workstation in the office with someone, it makes sense that acquaintanceship may deepen into friendship as a result of the consistent exposure that occurs through the use of shared space. While there is an old saying, familiarity generates disrespect, the opposite is also true, we tend to like someone more as we spend increasing amounts of time with them.

Shared life stage is the second way that we frequently find new friends. We take satisfaction and pleasure when spending time with people who are experiencing the same challenges or rewards that we are experiencing. When we move from high school to college or college to our first job, we tend to seek out the company of others who are experiencing the same transformation we are.

Shared interests are also a reliable path to friendship making. When we get into a new fitness program or start making our own beer, we are going to be bumping into new people who share these interests whether it’s through chatting in the juice bar or trying to decide what to buy at the craft beer making supply shop.

We know that there are three paths that lead to new friendship pools where we are likely to build our social networks, but do we ever know right from the start that we’ve met a friend? Science suggests it is absolutely possible. While we may all have felt the same excitement of instant connection with someone, the “someone” who generates that feeling of warmth in us is going to tell us a lot about who we are as individuals and what we think we need in a friend or partner.

While we may run across potential friends through some ways, there remains a bit of mystery as to why we “click” with some potential friends and not with others.

1. What’s the common understanding of closeness?
A.It leads to more shared space.B.It creates a mental distance.
C.It helps establish relationships.D.It makes people more attractive.
2. As a fresh staff in a company, you are more likely to be a friend of ________.
A.someone who lives in your communityB.someone who has richer work experience
C.someone who gets the job together with youD.someone who has a wider range of interests
3. What can we learn from the fourth paragraph?
A.A friend is easier lost than found.B.True friendship is never peaceful.
C.Friendship is always the aid of virtue.D.Friends hold a mirror up to each other.
4. What can be concluded from the article?
A.We are unclear why we have a preference for someone.
B.It’s easy for people to be friends right from the first meeting.
C.Friendships can’t develop between those with diverse tastes.
D.People tend to possess the same interests after becoming friends.
