People who like travelling have their reasons. They believe that travelling can help them expand their field of view, especially in the geographical and historical sense. They also think that touring will give them more chances to enjoy different kinds of food and experience new things that would never be brought by other activities. But those who dislike travelling also have some reasons.
Travelling, in my opinion, does more good than harm. Most importantly, it broadens our mind. We can get in touch with other civilizations(文明), cultures, customs and ideas.
Through history, most people travelled because of necessity (必要性)—not for pleasure. People travelled just in order to remain alive. They searched for food to eat or places to live in. They sometimes ran away from enemies. This is not to say that no one ever travelled just for the fun of it. In ancient times, for example, rich Romans travelled all the way to Greece to take part in the Olympic Games, and festivals. Of course, some people decided to travel just out of curiosity. They wanted to find out what it looked like beyond the horizon (地平线). Also business travel has been going on for centuries. Traders could not only make money but also learn to speak several languages and be introduced to different cultures.
So, travelling does enrich our mind and draw new ideas to us. There is no doubt that we can get much from it.

Out of Lake Wobegon; Fair Hills Resort
With sandcastle contests, Swedish buffet night, and family bingo, this classic northern Minnesota lodge is right out of Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon. Families can choose from a collection of activities suitable for both adults and kids—volleyball, tennis, sailing, swimming—laze by the lake, or rehearse for their star turn at the weekly talent show. The family-run resort is proud of its myriad "lifers," guests who've been vacationing here since they were kids. This year, ten of them will celebrate their 50th yearly visit.
Northern California, Unplugged; Gray Eagle Lodge
Once they find Gray Eagle Lodge off a two-lane road, most guests have no use for their cars. Days here are spent on foot, hiking to alpine lakes in the Sierras or going for a dip in the swimming hole fed by a 15-foot waterfall. "There are no officially planned activities," explains Tracy Morris, who has taken her children here for years, "unless you count the get-togethers specifically arranged for kids who have never met before but have become fast friends and enjoy fun together."
Authentic Adirondacks; The Hedges
For recent years improvements have been made—including upgrading the plumbing to accommodate more guests, answering to the main complaints in the past about its poor capacity. The current owners have restored the camp to its original Adirondack-style glory. Though tasteless to the younger age groups, the style earned the lodge a spot on the National Register of Historic Places.
Great Lake Lodge; The Inn at Watervale
Built as a boarding school in 1892, this lodge became a summer retreat in 1917. Today, the owner of the lodge proudly promotes the resort's lack of TV, Wi-Fi ,and decent cell phone coverage, which makes it perfect for recluses(隐士). The American Academy of Pediatrics’ Adolescent Sleep Working Group reviewed studies about sleep in teens. Researchers studied the harmful effects of not getting enough sleep — anything less than 8.5 to 9 hours of sleep on school nights — could have on young people. They discovered not getting enough sleep may cause poor grades at school. Not getting enough sleep has also been connected to a higher risk of car accidents in teens.
It may seem as though the way to solve the problem would be for teens to just go to sleep earlier. But researchers say that isn’t likely to work. Teens experience physical changes that make falling asleep earlier difficult. Their biological clocks just won’t allow them to fall asleep at 8 p.m., even when they’re tired.
Studies have shown that just delaying (推迟) school by 30 minutes can have a great effect on a teen’s health and performance. So most researchers suggest the school start time be delayed until at least 8:30 a.m. for teenagers.
Some of the benefits could include:
·Teens may be more likely to get the necessary amount of sleep.
·The delayed start time could help teens sleep during their natural sleep.
·Teens may be less likely to depend on coffee to stay awake during the day.
·Enough sleep could help teens study better in class, which could help them do better in exams.
·Sleeping longer could reduce health problems caused by a lack of sleep in the long term.
·Getting home later in the afternoon may reduce the amount of time when some teens are home alone, and could reduce the possibility that teens will take part in unhealthy activities.
But doing that can also cause some problems.

Instead, some scientists in the UK have been experimenting with ways to trick the body into feeling full.
A government-funded team has been testing simple foods found on everyday shopping lists. Bread, cheese, milk, soup and sauces can all be developed to cause the brain to send a brain signal which acts as an appetite suppression (抑制).
Peter Wilde, Scientist of UK Institute of Food Research, said, “If you can slow down the digestion of fat in the body, the undigested fat goes further down the small intestine and then it sends a message to the brain to reduce your appetite, so you can eat a normal-sized meal and the digestion is slowed down and then the message goes to your brain to reduce your appetite and you go for longer without being hungry.”
The researchers insist that the treated foods will still be entirely natural products, and free from processing.
They believe helping people to reduce weight this way is beneficial because it allows them to eat normally. The scientists also think their treatment could be taken into snacks to make sure people don’t eat too much.
The research is still at the experimental stage and it will be at least a year before their techniques can be used in a large scale human trial.

Orton turned him down. “Why,” he laughed, “would any person want to use this ugly thing when he can have a clear written message sent to any large city in the United States?”
Hmmm. My point is: things that you don’t think will catch on sometimes do. Keep that in mind, for a moment, while I tell you that this season’s most popular party dressing trend is renting your dress, rather than buying it.
The idea for Girl Meets Dress was born when former fashion PR Anna Bance realized that the practice of lending designer dresses to stars to wear once for an event could be applied to ordinary people. Ten years on, Girl Meets Dress has more than 4,000 pieces to hire.“Sometimes you want to take an Uber; sometimes you want to drive your own car,” says Bance. In the same way, she predicts “half of women’s wardrobes are going to move into the cloud”. Girl Meets Dress is simple to use: no need to subscribe, you can try on up to three dresses and only pay for the one you wear, and two-night dress hire costs between £19 and £119 depending on the dress itself.
For her university ball, recent fashion graduate Lotti Martin-Fuller spent £20 on renting a dress worth £100. “I’ve always felt guilty about consuming fast fashion,” she says, “but also wanted to be up-to-date with fashion. As a student, I didn’t have £100 to spend on a dress I might never wear again.” Hirestreet’s founder Isabella West reports that youthful renters are proud to tell people their dress is hired.
Right now, demand is more than supply. Rent your dress. The planet will love you for it.
