My father is a policeman. On a cold winter evening, he saw old beggar sitting in a square outside a shopping center. His shoes had been worn out and his toes stick out. See his frozen feet, my father felt sad. He left and returned back with a pair of new shoes and socks, that he bought at a nearby store. He knelt down on the ground but helped the old homeless man put it on. His random act of kindness melted the hearts of the passer-by. A woman brought an old blanket from her house to protect the beggar with the freezing cold. The beggar was touched and said it was nice to know that angels true walk on earth.

When I was in Grade 3, our school organized the interesting trip to a zoo in our city. I was very excited about the trip. Though I couldn’t sleep until late at night, I got to school at 7:00 am, half an hour after the reporting time. When I got on the school bus, there were only a teacher and three students in it. When all the people arrived, the students were divided into several teams leading by our teachers. After traveling on the road for about forty minutes, they arrived at the zoo. The bird watching area wherever there were different kinds of birds was our first stop. Then we also saw many other animals, such as deer, wolf and bears. Finally, it was time for us leave for home. The experience seems to be of little important today, but when I look back, I realize that how much it meant to me when I was young.

What qualities do you think heroes should have? To me, heroes are brave and helpful. They’re people you respect of. My heroes are the volunteers who go to the earthquake-hit areas last week. The disaster caused great damages to the areas. Therefore, the volunteers’ efforts relieved the victims’ suffering. They helped the victims by giving themselves food, water and shelter. There were also many doctors and nurses who volunteered help the wounded. The rescue work turned out dangerously, but no one gave up rescue the unfortunate people. I think nothing is equal to which the brave people did in an earthquake.
