Rebecca

The most famous adaptation of Rebecca is the Oscar-winning Alfred Hitchcock classic starring Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine. How can Ben Wheatley's new version possibly compete? One answer is to have Kristin Scott Thomas as Mrs. Danvers, a stroke（中风）of casting genius which is enough to justify the film's existence. Another is going back to the book and trying to get closer to the actual story. You think you know it but you just don't.

Andrea Riseborough stars as an assassin（刺客）who can control other people's bodies and get them to do the killing for her. Her latest job is to kill an IT tycoon（Sean Bean）and his daughter（Tuppence Middleton）by possessing the daughter's future husband（ Christopher Abbott）. David Ehrlich of IndieWire claimed, "90 minutes of Andrea Riseborough and Chriustopher Abbott engaging in psychic（灵媒）warfare over control of the latter's body is more satisfying".

Honest Thief

Liam Neeson plays Tom, a retired bank robber who promises to return his ill-gotten gains in exchange for a reduced prison sentence so that he can settle down with the woman he loves（Kate Walsh）. But the two FBI agents（Jai Courtney and Anthony Ramos）assigned to fetch the money decide to steal it instead and frame Tom for murder. Unfortunately for them, he is a man with a very particular set of skills, so explosions, car chases, and shoot-outs all come.

This is a good chance for anyone who wants to learn how to do comedy（喜剧）． The workshop looks at every kind of comedy， and practices many different ways of making people laugh． Simon is a comedian and actor who has 10 years' experience of teaching comedy． His workshops are exciting and fun． An evening with Simon will give you the confidence to be funny．

8：00 pm-11：00 pm Pizza World

Fine food with beautiful jazz music； this is a great evening out． Charlotte Stone will perform songs from her new best-selling CD， with James Pickering on the piano． The menu is Italian， with excellent meat and fresh fish， pizzas and pasta（面食）． Book early to get a table． Our bar is open all day， and serves cocktails， coffee， beer， and white wine．

【推荐1】One easy way you can get to know students is to organize some get-to-know-you games. Here are a few youth activities ideas.

M&M Roulette (Prep time: 15 Minutes)

Write descriptions next to every color M&M ( Yellow: Your favorite kind of food; Red: Something you’re good at; Blue: Your favorite vacation)

Have students sit in a circle.

Open a pack of M&Ms.

Pass around the pack.

Ask students to pick out an M&M.

Whatever color they get, they have to answer the description.

Go until the pack is empty.

Dice (方块) and Dare (Prep time: 15 Minutes)

Write 12 get-to-know-you questions on a board.

Have students sit in a circle.

Have each student roll the dice once and answer the number question shown on the dice.

This or That (Prep time: 15 Minutes)

Write a list of 10 this-or-that questions (for example: “Would you rather be a bee or a horse?” “Would you rather have five brothers or five sisters?” You can draw from this list of 200 examples.)

Have students sit in a circle.

Ask the first student a “This or That” question.

Take turns going around the circle.

The Worm Olympics (Prep time: 5 minutes)

Prepare two sleeping bags.

Pair up students in pairs of two.

Each person in a pair gets in a sleeping bag on the ground (one pair at a time).

Have each member of the team race each other from a starting line to the finishing line.

【推荐1】When a typical kid hums (哼唱) a tune, it’s usually something like “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,” not Finnish composer Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D Minor.

So when Nygel Witherspoon began to hum the very difficult concerto (协奏曲), his family guessed that he should have music lessons. He was, however, just 3 years old.

“He was calm, with an ability to focus,” recalled David Holmes, Witherspoon’s cello (大提琴) teacher from age 3 to 16.

Witherspoon is a familiar name in his hometown. He has inherited his talent from both sides of his family, including his aunt, the late jazz vocalist Shirley Witherspoon.

The 17-year-old doesn’t see himself as competitive. “I think it’s more important for students to have a supportive environment than a competitive one,” he said. “It’s great to have a support system, where you can be yourself and improve right along with others doing the same thing.”

Witherspoon’s love of music blossomed as he attended viola (中提琴) lessons with older siblings (兄弟姐妹). Their teacher, David France, noticed that the little boy was a sponge (海绵).

“He’d absorb everything they did,” France said. Witherspoon was given a box violin, but he wanted to play “the big one” ― the cello. He loved its size and tone. That’s when he was matched with his teacher Holmes.

Witherspoon’s drive is inspired by the connection music provides. He recalled that he and his siblings performed as a chamber trio (室内乐三重奏) at their grandmother’s nursing home. The positive reaction from residents gave him motivation.

“It’s so important, whether it’s hip-hop or classical,” he said. “Music is the universal language. It connects all of us.”

His mother runs an in-home day care where lucky children can hear Witherspoon’s concertos as background music.

Witherspoon finds the noisy environment helpful in terms of learning to focus and play with distractions. As he practices in the kitchen sometimes children toddle (蹒跚学步) up to listen.

Despite years of performing, Witherspoon said he still gets nervous sometimes.

“But once I’m on stage, I connect with my instrument and try to tell a story with my music.”

【推荐2】The Vienna-based researchers showed that dogs will stop doing a simple task when not rewarded if another dog, which continues to be rewarded is present.

The experiment consisted of taking pairs of dogs and getting them to present a paw for a reward. On giving this “handshake” the dogs received a piece of food. One of the dogs was then asked to shake hands, but received no food. The other dog continued to get the food when it was asked to perform the task.

The dog without the reward quickly stopped doing the task, and showed signs of anger or stress when its partner was rewarded.

To make sure that the experiment was really showing the interaction between the dogs rather than just the frustration of not being rewarded, a similar experiment was conducted where the dogs performed the task without the partner. Here they continued to present the paw for much longer.

Dr. Frederike Range from the University of Vienna says this shows that it was the presence of the rewarded partner that was the greater influence on their behavior.

“The only difference is that one gets food and the other doesn’t. They are responding to being unequally rewarded.” she says.

The researchers say this kind of behavior, where one animal gets frustrated with what is happening with another, has only been observed in primates (灵长类) before.

Studies with various types of monkeys and chimpanzees show they react’ not only to seeing their partners receiving rewards when they are not, but also to the type of reward.

The dog study also looked at whether the type of reward made a difference. Dogs were given either bread or sausage, but seemed to react equally to either. Dr. Range says this may be because they have been trained.

Minutes later, Yang grabbed the capsule hatch with his hand, pulled himself out, smiled and waved at recovery teams and reporters. “It is a splendid moment in the history of my motherland and also the greatest day of my life,” Yang, a former fighter pilot from Northeast China's Liaoning Province, said immediately after emerging. In an interview with CCTV, China's state television, Yang said he was “feeling excellent”. Shenzhou 5 landed at dawn, 4.8 kilometres (3 miles) from its designed landing target, the officials said. “The spaceship operated well,” the astronaut Yang Liwei said in his first publicized comments. “I feel very good and I am proud of my motherland.” After a physical exam on spot, Yang's condition was found as "good." Li Jinai, the commander of China's manned space program, called Yang a “space hero” and a “national hero”. Following Yang's touchdown, China's premier Wen Jiabao immediately spoke to Yang from Beijing's command and control centre and offered his congratulations.

Within hours, Chinese space officials announced that the country's space dreams will continue with a "Shenzhou 6" mission, most possibly within a year. They said China also had worked out plans to conduct space walking by its astronauts, and eventually build up a space station. However, Chinese scientists ruled out building a space shuttle, like the United States.

Yang's flight came four decades after the former Soviet Union and the United States pioneered manned spaceflight. Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin orbited the Earth in April 1961. One month later, the United States launched Alan B. Shepard Jr.

【推荐2】The annual Dongyue Temple Fair of Mount Tai will be held during April 29-May 6 at Dai Temple in Tai’an. Here are some items visitors may love.

Performances

From April 29 to May 6, performances of martial arts (武术), traditional music, Chinese folk art forms and local operas will be put on stage. Visitors can lift their spirits by watching long boxing and nunchakus (双节棍) performances or listening to the music played by guqin, a seven-stringed zither, and the bamboo flute.

Folk-custom activities

Visitors to the temple fair can also enjoy themselves by admiring folk-custom activities held from April 29 to May 6.

There will be exhibitions of traditional handicrafts and paper cutting works that were collected and selected by non-governmental organizations. Performers will also show traditional Chinese costumes at a garden party.

Cultural activities

If the visitors want to enjoy the cultural atmosphere at the temple fair, they can get a close look at bamboo engraving art at Peitian Gate where more than 70 pieces of engraving art are exhibited from April 28 to May 22.

Trade activities

If people want to buy Mount Tai specialties, they won’t be disappointed, for trade shows will be held during the temple fair. Tea, tourism products, donkey-hide-gelatin, rare stones and root carvings will be showed and on sale.
