Kevin and his friend Mike loved to play soccer and they often met at an old bench（长椅） on the playground after school. My heart nearly stopped. I quickly reached for my wallet and suggested that we count the money again. "Okay," he said. "I hope that I have enough." I added some of my money to his without letting him see and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money left. "Thank you, God, for giving me enough money!" the little boy said.

I left the store, feeling as if my life had been changed forever.

My father, who was always drunk and angry, beat me more and more every day. He always locked the door when he went away and kept the key in this pocket. One day I found an old saw （锯子） that he hid in the roof. When I was alone in the house. I started to make a hole on the floor under the big table.

The next day my father said, "Huck, go to the river and catch some fish for breakfast. Quickly! And don't try anything. Remember, I'm watching you!"

While I was fishing by the river, I saw an empty boat nearby.

"A boat!" I thought happily, “This is my chance to escape. I'll hide the boat near some trees and use it tonight!"

When my father went to town that afternoon, I got my saw and started to work on the hole. It was late afternoon when I finished making the hole.

"I did a good job," I thought, looking at the hole. “Now I'll get my father's gun.”

I looked outside the window and there was nobody there. I quickly escaped through the hole. Then I ran into the woods to hunt a wild pig. Luckily, I found one. I shot it and took it back to the house and let the pig's blood fall on the wooden floor of the house. Then I pulled some of my hair out and put it on my father's axe（斧子） with some of the pig's blood. I took the pig's body outside and put it in a big bag with some rocks, and threw it into the river.

"This way people will think ▲ !" I thought. "They'll come and look for my body in the river." This idea made me smile.

I waited until it was dark and got into the boat and went to Jackson's Island. I knew about Jackson's Island because Tom, Ben, Joe and I had a lot of fun adventures there.

He Yiyi has touched the hearts of millions of Chinese fans after an online video showed him playing football with only one leg. He was called by fans as "Angel with Broken Wings (折翼的天使)", "Ball King with One Leg" and "Magic Boy".

He Yiyi lost his left leg at the age of 12. As a boy, He always dreamed of becoming a football star in China. He began training at his school at 7 and joined the Shenzhen Youth Team two years later. In 2009, he had a shot at becoming a professional (职业的) footballer in France. But he had to give it up because he got bone cancer (骨癌).

To save his life, doctors had to cut off his left leg. "I spent one year and four months in the hospital," He said. "That was the darkest time of my life."

Luckily, He was not afraid of the terrible condition. He told himself that he had only lost a leg, not his dream. And he loved football so much that he started playing again with crutches (拐杖)

He has a message for others. "Stop complaining (抱怨) and feeling sorry for yourself. It is only you who can save yourself. Isn't it better to give others a smile?".

Gareth Ellis, 13, is the youngest son of Alan, an engineer, and Kath, a teacher. His older brothers work in banking and computers, but Gareth's dream was always to become a clown（小丑）.Three years ago, Alan, Kath and Gareth joined the circus（马戏团）, "People laugh when we tell them" says Kath. "But it's true, Gareth has wanted to be a clown since we took him to the circus when he was three."

"I can't say it was easy," says Kath. "There was a lot to think about and organize. We only had a car and a very small caravan（拖车）to sleep in, and we were leaving behind our lovely house. The only thing Gareth missed was his long, hot baths."

"People ask about my education," says Gareth, "but from the beginning, wherever we go, someone has always come to teach me. I follow the same books as everyone back at school and I've got a computer. I`ve never fallen behind my classmates."

And the future? "It was a difficult decision," says Kath, "but there was no other way to teach Gareth about being a clown. I’m happy to say it’s working, and we`re enjoying it." And Gareth? "I'm going to be the main clown in a circus one day, he says, perhaps Bippo's circus."
