In a forest, there lives a big and strong lion. One day, when he is sleeping, a little mouse runs across the lion’s nose in a hurry. This wakes up the lion and he puts his big paw（爪子）on the little mouse.

The poor mouse begs（乞求）the lion to let her go and she will pay him back some day. Hearing this, the lion is surprised and wants to know how such a small thing can help him. But he is in a good mood（情绪）and he finally lets the mouse go.

A few days later, the lion falls into a net（网）when looking for something to eat. The lion finds it difficult to get out of the net and roars（咆哮）loudly.

As the mouse is passing by, she hears the roar and finds the lion in the net. ________ She bites the net with her sharp teeth. Slowly she makes a big hole in the net and soon the lion gets out of the net.

The lion thanks the little mouse for her help. The mouse smiles and says that she is just doing something to thank the lion for not killing her before. After that, the lion and the mouse become good friends and live happily in the forest.

My class go to the Ragged School Museum. About 130 years ago, it was a school for poor children. At the museum, we have to be like children from the past. We all have old names, like Albert or Betty. We have to put on different clothes, too.

First, we visit the old classroom. There are little wooden (木制的) desks. The boys sit on one side of the room. The girls sit on the other.

Then we meet our teacher, Miss Perkins, for the day. She looks just like the teachers 130 years ago. Miss Perkins is very strict. First of all, she goes around the class and asks to see our hands. She looks at them to check that they are clean!

Next, Miss Perkins teaches us to write. If any of us says a word, Miss Perkins shouts, “Quiet !” In class, we have to sit up properly. One boy doesn’t. Miss Perkins makes him sit at the front with his arms behind a board.

When the lesson is over, we also find out about toys and games in the past. The girls in our class make some little wooden dolls. The boys have a game of football. We make a ball out of a few old rags (破布). It is all right but not as good as a real ball.

In the afternoon, our visit to the Ragged school Museum is over and it is time to leave. We have a great day out! I am glad the Ragged School is not my school. I would not like Miss Perkins for my teacher. My teacher is much kinder.

This year, I work in a German (德国的) middle school as an English teacher. Then I find some parts of the German schools and British (英国的) ones are not the same. Here are the three differences between British and German middle schools.

In the UK, most students start school at about 9 a.m. However (然而), German schools start one hour earlier! That means they have to wake up early on school days! I think students in Germany may feel tired.

British students usually eat their breakfast before coming to school. This doesn’t happen in Germany! German kids eat their breakfast after the first lesson of the day, during a special “breakfast break”. They usually have a yoghurt, some fruit and sandwiches. Yummy!

British students often wear shirts and ties to school. However, German kids can wear their usual jeans and T-shirts. This is the coolest thing about German schools! I hate my school uniform-it is so ugly and uncomfortable!

As you can see, there are many differences between British and German schools. However, they are not totally (完全地) different! After all, all students have to take tests, go to maths lessons and do their homework! Some things never change.

“On the first day of school Mr. Jeffrey wants to bring a personal item(个人物品) from home to tell the class a little about you. You have to show it in f    66     of the class.” Mom says to Valerie.

“Mom, will Mr. Jeffrey let me talk all day? It takes hours to talk about all of t    75    .”

Mom laughs, “Maybe not all day, but he’ll be happy you’re so willing to share.”
