We have to go to school from Monday to Friday. My school day starts at 8:30 am. Classes usually begin at nine o’clock. But you begin your classes at eight o’clock, right? There is a break (休息) for about twenty minutes in the morning. During the break we can eat food and listen to music. Usually we put the food in our lockers (储物柜). We have lunch at school.

At school we have to wear school uniforms (校服) and we also wear sports shoes for P.E. lessons. My school is over at 3:30 pm. I know Chinese students always have a lot of homework every day. We have homework, too, but only a little, not much.

Su Yongjian, from Beijing Chaoyang Foreign Language School, started taking a school bus to school this September. The school bus looks like a tourist bus. It takes Su about 40 minutes to get to school. “It’s more convenient（方便的）than the subway. It saves a lot of time,” the 12-year-old said.

Nowadays, school buses are becoming more popular in China. In Chongqing, there will be 3,000 yellow school buses on the road by the end of this year, according to Xinhua News Agency.

In the US, yellow school buses are a common way for children to get to school. Yellow became the color of school buses in 1939. The color helps warn (警告)other cars. Black letters on a yellow bus are easy to see in the early morning. There are about 480,000 school buses in the country, according to the American School Bus Council.

However, there are not many school buses in the UK. Students from public schools usually walk or take buses or the subway to school. There are some school buses in private(私营的)schools, but they are not yellow.

In Japan the school districts (校区) are small in cities. So Children don’t need to use school buses. They usually walk to school. Some students living in rural（乡村的）areas go to school by bus or train.

In some places where the weather is bad, such as Iceland, children go to school in a special car. The car looks like a jeep. It can drive over thick ice. And, on the islands next to Washington State in the US, some kids even take a boat to school.

Rat remembered his own little home under the ground. He didn’t see it for a long time and missed it very much. When Badger and Mole returned to the kitchen, they saw that Rat was very eager to go home to the river. The underground made him uncomfortable. He likes fresh air and sunshine.

“Relax, Rat.” said Badger. “I’ll show you a shortcut through the Wild Forest and you’ll be home in no time.”

The Badger took Mole, Rat and Otter through a very long underground passage. It seemed that they walked for a very long time. However, finally they arrived at a part of the passage that was just under the ground. The passage let out into the open air. Mole could see the sunshine. Quickly the Badger let them out of the passage and said goodbye. The three animals thanked Badger for his kindness.

Now the Otter led them through the rest of the Wild Forest. The Otter was almost as powerful an animal as the Badger, so Mole and Rat felt safe with him. Finally they reached the forest end. They were looking at the green fields and the river was nearby. All of the animals were very happy to be going home, away from the dark forest.

Happily the animals hurried toward the river back to Rat’s house. As he ran, the Mole realized that he was really a field animal. He might live under the ground like Badger, but he also liked the little gardens and the fresh air and the sunshine. The Wild Forest was not his kind of place.

October 16 is a big day. The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (中国共产党第二十次全国代表大会）opens in Beijing on that day. The meeting is important to both the Party and China.

The National Congress and the Central Committee it elects (选举) are the highest leading bodies of the Party. The National Congress takes place (举办) every five years.

A total of 2,296 delegates (代表) go to the meeting this year. They are all Party members and come from different walks of life (各行各业). There are more female (女性) delegates this year than before, such as Chinese astronaut Wang Yaping and Zhang Guimei, a teacher in the mountainous area of Yunnan.
