Want to sleep under the sea? The company Planet Ocean has plans for an exciting underwater hotel, which they hope to build this kind of hotel all over the world.

The hotel won’t be large, with only 12 guest rooms,     32     a restaurant. Guests will get to the hotel in a lift – so no diving or getting wet! The hotel will float 10 metres under the ocean. Because it won’t be very deep under the water, the sun will     33     down and provide light. Guests will get great close-up views of the fish and other sea creatures.

The hotel’s design, with clear plastic walls, means guests will be able to see the sea and all the creatures that live there around, above and below them in their rooms. The luxury rooms will have a shower, TV and even the internet. The restaurant will serve high     34     food. As you might   expect, Planet Ocean wants to encourage people to eat less fish, so guests won’t find any on the menu. What’s more surprising is that the atmosphere will be     35     , so guests will have to imagine the sound of the ocean around them.

The hotel won’t be cheap to build and it won’t be cheap to stay in. But the designers are    36     proud of the fact that it will be environmentally friendly. It will use electricity, of course, but it will produce its own, and won’t disturb ocean life       37     . In fact, the designers hope some sea creatures will build their homes on parts of the building, which will bring real benefits to the underwater world.

Planet Ocean’s future designs include a moving hotel. It perhaps sounds like this will work in the same way as a cruise ship, but this is not the     38     . In fact, rather than moving between continents and countries, it will stay     39     a single country’s waters, but only occasionally change positions around its coast.

Today, we’re talking with professional stuntman (特技人) Alex Shelton. He has worked on a lot of movies and TV shows. Alex’s job is often very _______, but he wouldn’t change it!

Why did you want to become a stuntman, Alex?

Well, I have always liked sports and outdoor activities. When I was a child, I also loved martial arts movies. I watched them on TV all the time and tried to _______ the moves!

What types of stunts do you like doing the most?

I have always loved doing stunts _________, like jumping from airplanes or tall buildings. In my free time, I’m a big fan of going skydiving and bungee jumping. They’re amazing!

My favourite sport is rock climbing. Have you ever tried it?

Yes, a lot of times. _______, I did a rock climbing stunt for a TV show last month, but I had an accident. I bumped into another stuntman and then we both fell down about five metres. It was scary, but no one was hurt.

Have you ever _________?

No, I haven’t. I have had a lot of cuts and bruises, but they weren’t serious. I have never broken any bones, so I’ve been very lucky.

Which of your stunts has been the most impressive?

I’m not sure, but the most _________ was a paragliding stunt for an action movie. I had to paraglide over the ocean at night and then jump onto a moving boat. It was scary, but that’s what I love!

I’m not normally a lucky person, but I entered a competition last month to win tickets for a rugby match at Twickenham. Two weeks ago, I was finishing my homework when my phone rang. I was one of the competition w    67    . No way! I couldn’t believe it! A few days later, I was sitting on a train with my dad. We were on our way to London.

When we arrived, I was amazed. I knew Twickenham was the largest rugby stadium in the world, but it’s h    68    -there’s enough room for 8,200 supporters. At the entrance we met Martin-our guide for the day. He showed us around the stadium and the museum. We learnt that the stadium is over 100 years old.

Next, Martin took us to our seats and the view was amazing. While we were waiting for the match to start, a band started playing and a group of dancers appeared. At 2:30, the match started. There are several different ways of getting points in rugby, so it’s a    70     exciting to watch. After 40 minutes, it was half-time. The Australians were playing really well and they were winning 13-6. The England coach didn’t look p    71    . His team was losing by 7 points.

England began the second half well. Then Dad grabbed my arm and pointed at one of the England players. He was running with the ball and the Australians were trying to s    72           him. He scored and the crowd went crazy! At full-time, England beat Australia 20-13. I was really happy!

From that moment, I knew I wanted to play rugby, but there’s only a boys’ team at my school. With my dad’s help, I found a girls’ team nearby and next week I will begin rugby training. My friends Ali and Matt think I’m mad, but I think they are old-fashioned. More and more w    73     are beginning to take up sports like rugby, football and golf. Who knows? Maybe one day I’ll play for England at Twickenham.

Michael Morpurgo was born on 5th October, 1943 in the south of England. He and his brother were moved from London when the Second World War began. Michael went to two different boarding schools when he was growing up. He particularly enjoyed playing rugby and singing but he often felt homesick and missed home. After school, Michael joined the army but he did not enjoy being shouted at and so he left shortly afterwards. Michael then decided to go to university instead.

After graduating from university, Michael became a primary school teacher and taught in a small school in Kent. He loved teaching and his favourite thing to do was to read stories to his class. When he ran out of stories to read to them, Morpurgo started to write his own. His first book was written in 1974 and was called It Never Rains: Five Stories. Morpurgo has stated that the days he spent teaching are some of the happiest of his life.

Michael left teaching after ten years and bought a farm with his wife. Together they began a charity called Farms for City Children. This charity offers children who live in poorer, inner-cities the chance to come and stay on a working farm for a week. Children learn from hands-on experience about how to care for animals and how to work with others as part of a team. The charity is still running today, and thousands of children have been to stay at one of the three farms that the charity now owns.

Michael Morpurgo has written over 100 books for children. He writes about children and their relationships with older people and animals. He also writes stories about wars. Many of them have won prizes and several are now films or plays, including War Horse, which is now well known around the world. Another popular book is Kensuke’s Kingdom, which he wrote in 1999.
