Everyone worries. But how do you deal with your worries? Whether（不管……）your worries are big or small, you can take these three steps to deal with your worries.

1. Try to find out what you’re worried about.

Sometimes, you will know what you’re worried about. Other times, you might not. Try to find it out first; if you can’t, you can ask for help.

2. Think of ways to make it better.

There is always something you can do to help you feel less worried. Sitting there worrying is no fun and it won’t solve your problem.

Grades at school are often a top worry for kids. If you’re worried about grades, ask yourself these questions:

·Why are grades important? What do grades mean to me?

·How do I get ready for class? Do I go over my notes even when there isn’t a test?

·Do I have a good place to do my homework?

·Have I tried different ways of studying?

If your worry is about a fight you had with a friend, you might write down all the things you could do —write a note to him or her, invite him or her to a basketball game, say sorry to him or her. Once you have a list of things you could do, you can choose the one that gets your friend back.

3. Ask for help.

When you’re worried, it can help to find someone to talk to. You can ask your parents, friends, or teachers for help.

Last Friday a storm swept through two villages in the New Territories, destroying (摧毁) fourteen homes. Seven others were so badly damaged (破坏) that their owners had to leave them, and fifteen others had broken windows or broken roofs(屋顶). One person was killed, several were badly hurt and taken to hospital, and a number of other people received smaller hurt. Altogether (总共) over two hundred people were homeless(无家可归) after the storm.

A farmer, Mr. Tan, said that the storm began early in the morning and lasted for over an hour.

“I was eating with my wife and children,” he said, “when we heard a loud noise. A few minutes later our house fell down on top of us. We tried our best to climb out but then I found that one of my children was missing. I went back inside and found him safe but very scared.”

Mrs. Wu Meifeng said that her husband had just left for work when she felt that her house was moving. She ran outside at once with her children.

“There was no time to take anything，” she said. “A few minutes later, the roof came down.”

Soldiers(战士)helped to take people out of the flooded (水淹的) area and the welfare department (福利机构) brought them food, clothes and something to stay at.

Aron Ralston is an American man who is     46     in mountain climbing. He almost lost his     47     because of accidents many times. On April 26, 2003, he found himself in a very dangerous situation when climbing in Utah. A 360-kilo rock fell     48     him and his arm was caught under it. He stayed there for five days, but no one found him. He had to     49     off half his right arm to save his own life when his water ran out. He climbed down the mountain to find help. After losing his arm, he     50     a book called Between a Rock and a Hard Place. This means being in a difficult situation that you cannot seem to get out of.
