About three weeks later, the dog was suddenly lost. For several days, the man looked for his dog, but didn’t find him. Then, seven weeks later, the dog came back but he was not alone. By his side was the cat. They were tired and hungry after their long trip. And they never left each other again.

Another story is about goldfish. We usually think fish are cold-hearted, but sometimes we may be wrong. A friend had to work in another country. So I took her pet goldfish and put it in a bowl with mine. They two lived together for six months. When the friend came back, she took her fish home.

Then, I found my goldfish was acting strangely, hitting against the side of the bowl. The next morning, he died. Later that day, my friend phoned to say that her goldfish was also dead. I believe they died of sadness.

Last Friday my friend Deborah asked me if I would like to learn how to make tofu. I couldn’t think of any good reason (理由) not to be interested in, so I said, “Yes”. The next day I met her and another three nice people at the Hodo Soy Beanery Oakland. I enjoyed the trip. I got a lot from the trip. The following is what I learnt.

Tofu has a history of 2,000 years. Although the word “tofu” is from Japanese, the food maybe comes from China. There are two main kinds of tofu: soft tofu (软豆腐) and firm tofu (硬豆腐). In some parts of Asia, people use tofu as a kind of meat.

Douhua is one kind of soft tofu. It is a popular breakfast food in China. Because it is very soft, people can’t eat it with chopsticks, but with a spoon (勺子). People often eat it as a snack (小吃) and often add spring onions and gravy to it. In Malaysia, people usually eat douhua with white or dark sugar water.

The class in America is almost the same as that in China. But some things are different. In America, if the teacher asks you a question but you don’t understand, you should put up your hand and ask the teacher to repeat it. If you don’t know the answer, it is all right to tell the teacher that you don't know. Then he or she knows what you need to learn.

You mustn’t be absent on a test day. If you're seriously ill, call and let the teacher know you will not be there for the test. If your teacher allows（允许）a make-up test（补考），you should take the test in one or two days after you go back to school.

Be on time! It is impolite to be late. If you come in late, be sure to do it quietly. Take your books out of your bag after you get into the room. Then go to your seat and sit down quietly. In the US, you needn’t knock（敲门）before you come into the classroom.

If you have to leave during the class, do it quietly, too. There is no need to ask for the teacher’s agreement（同意）.

It is not very easy for some people to organize a dinner party. There are so many things to think about. I will give you some advice you can take when organizing a dinner party.

First you should decide the date of the party and who you are going to invite. Then send the invitations two or three weeks earlier. So your friends will have time to plan their activities. The best way of inviting them is calling, it is easy and quick.

The second thing is to decide the menu. Make a list（清单）of the food and drink. Please remember to ask your friends about their likes and dislikes. Some of them may be vegetarians（素食主义者）.

Then don’t forget to clean your room. You should do the clean-up at least a week before. The kitchen and bathroom（洗手间）are two most important places. You can also buy some flowers and put them on the desk. Your house will look beautiful with them.
