	I would suggest adding sign language (手语). Not many people know how to communicate with those who have hearing problems. It would be very helpful if we could start to learn sign language when we are young. This would teach us to treat those who are less lucky with respect.
	A subject that gives students a better understanding of themselves. According to some surveys, many middle school students don’t have a dream. A person without a dream is like a ship sailing without a compass (指南针). Students who can discover their strengths and weaknesses will have more confidence and power in life.
	It would be a time-management class. Nowadays, many students are addicted to their smartphones and other kinds of electronic devices (电子设备). For example, they sleep late because they can’t balance their studies with gaming. A time-management class will help students lead a healthy life.
	Self-defense (自我保护) This would give you a helping hand when you are in a situation where you need to protect yourself. P. E. lessons only teach you how to stay fit and healthy through exercises, but we surely need to have new lessons to learn some skills of self-defense.

When I was a young boy, I lived with my grandparents. My grandfather always taught me something interesting that might not be taught at school.

One day, I told my grandfather about a science project that my teacher asked us to do. Each of us was going to grow a pot（花盆） of bean（豆） plants. We all wanted to grow the strongest plants.

I showed my grandfather the bean seeds. And I explained that my science teacher had taught us to grow the seeds in class. After hearing my words, my grandfather said, “I will show you another way of growing plants.” He continued. “When the plant is starting out, you need to put some weight on it.”

“Doesn’t it stop the beans from growing?”, I asked. “No, of course not. Instead, they will become stronger, and healthier.” I tried what my grandfather told me to do carefully. In the following year, I noticed that even though a cold wind blew in, they were influenced a little.

Sometimes, we do hope that our life can be easy and smooth. But the truth is that no one can avoid difficulties in life. There’s always a cold wind blowing and trying to stop us from moving on. So what we should do is to learn to grow in difficulties.

A Chinese saying goes, “birth in spring, growth in summer, harvest in autumn, and storage in winter.” It shows Chinese people’s understanding of time and agriculture（农业）. They also divided the year into 24 solar terms.They show Chinese people’s hope to get harmony（和谐）with nature. The 24 solar terms have got recognition（认可）from UNESCO.

To protect the traditional culture, as well as develop it in a creative way. Many people are doing their best. Wei Wei, the winner of the second prize of a competition, produced a long painting describing some customs related to each term. “When creating this painting, I realized that 24 solar terms influenced people’s lives greatly. For example, in many places, people have the customs of celebrating the beginning of winter. When winter comes, agricultural activities end, so people wear new clothes to greet each other.” Says Wei in 2021.

Neixiang county, Henan province, has a history giving a performance of dachunniu（beating the spring cow）to celebrate the beginning of spring. It also means the start of spring plowing（耕地）. The county plans to promote the culture of the solar terms by promoting this custom.

Our effort on promoting the traditional culture is a starting point, and there is a long way to go. The 24 solar terms are a cultural treasure, so we need to brush away the dust of history, and restore its glory.

Six hours of walking in space! On August 20 in 2021. Chinese astronauts, Tang Hongbo, Liu Boming and Nie Haisheng did the second spacewalk of the Shenzhou XII mission. They set up equipment and lifted a camera outside the Tiangong space station.

Spacewalks can be dangerous. There is no air in space of course. And its filled with harmful radiation（辐射） . But the spacesuits, although they are heavy, can protect astronauts. A spacesuit is like a small space station. It has everything astronauts need when they carry out a spacewalk. For example, China’s Feitian spacesuits have six layers. The innermost （最内层） layer collects astronaut’s urine （尿液） . Then there are four layers that help control the temperature and air pressure inside the suit. Spacesuits are filled with air, so they look like they’re puffed up. The six layer is made of special fibers that protect astronauts from radiation.

The first Feitian suit was made in 2008. Zhai Zhigang wore it to carry out China’s first spacewalk for about 19 minutes. The suits Chinese astronauts wear today are the second generation of Feitian. It can support walks as long as eight hours and can be used more often. The first generation could only be used five times within two years, while the second generation can be used 15 times within three years. Each suit costs around 30 million yuan and it takes for months to make just one!
