When we talked about the space, we know the universe means the earth, the sun, the moon, the stars and so on in space. Many of the stars are so far away that we can’t see them.

We have day and night because the earth keeps moving all the time. Just because the moon is closer to the earth than the sun, it looks much bigger than the sun. The sun is bright enough to give out very strong light. The moon can’t give any light at all, but it looks quite bright. Why? In fact, the light from the moon comes from the sun. 1. But in fact the stars are much bigger and brighter than the moon.

There are still many other planets in the universe. But of all these planets, only on the earth there are living things. 1. People on the earth have studied the space all the time. Pinocchio goes back to Geppetto’s home alone. He has no food to eat and asks an old man in the neighborhood(附近)for food. But the old man puts some water on him. He almost gets his feet burnt(烧掉) when he tries to dry himself. Luckily, Pinocchio’s father comes home and makes him new feet.

There are interesting things about Pinocchio. Every time he tells a lie, his nose gets longer. He always wants to be a real boy, and he becomes a real boy in the end.

Pinocchio has important lessons for children. If children don’t listen to their parents, they may face terrible things. If children love and take care of their parents, they will get rewards(奖励).And children should not lie.

A year ago, I paid no attention to English idioms（习语）, though my teacher told us the importance again and again. But soon, the importance of English idioms was shown in an amusing （有趣的）experience.

Everyone needs friend. There is an old saying, “Friends are God’s way of taking care of us.” But how do you find real friendship and keep it?

The American writer Sally Seamans tells young students some smart ways to find friends. Sally says finding friendship is just like planning a tree. You plant the seed（种子）and take care of it to make it grow. First, you should choose a friend. What makes a good friend? It is not because a person has money or good looks. A good friend should be kind and patient. For example, if you have a bad day, a good friend should listen to your complains（抱怨）and do his or her best to help you. To make a friend, you can’t be too shy. You should make each other happy and share your lives.

But things can’t always be happy. Even the best friends have fights. What should you do when you have a fight with your friend? Sally says there are some steps（步骤）to be friends again: Tell him or her how you are feeling; say what your friend has done wrong, and explain why you did this or that.

Last summer, I went to Shanghai with my parents. It was our first time. Shanghai is a large and modern city and it also has a long history. I was really excited to have the chance to visit it.

We stayed there for two days. On the first day, we went to Nanjing Road where there were lots of busy shopping malls. I bought several gifts for my friends there. We also visited some places in the city centre. In the evening we went to the Bund (外滩)-a famous waterfront area. It is on the west bank of Huangpu River. Local people often start a day by doing exercise at the Bund. Here you can see them walking, jogging, practicing Tai Chi or flying kites. We also went to the Oriental Pearl Tower, which is a landmark (地标) in Pudong and one of the world’s tallest TV towers.

On the second day, we visited Xintiandi, where we saw lots of modern shops and restaurants in traditional houses. The old buildings there look very interesting. The scenery (风景) was really amazing!

Our stay in Shanghai was an unforgettable experience. I liked both the new and the old Shanghai. Two days was a bit short. I hope I can go to Shanghai again sometime in the future.
