You’ll need

halfa lemon             a cup

four spoons of water       a cotton swab (棉签)

white paper             a light bulb (电灯泡)

What to do

1.Squeeze (挤) some lemon juice into water. Mix the water and juice.

2. Put the cotton swab into the mixture (混合物) and make it wet. Use the wet cotton swab to write some words on the paper.

文章大意:本文主要讲述了诺贝尔的生平及用其死后留下的财产设立的五个世界级的奖项。

A Nobel Prize is considered by most people as one of the highest international honours a person can receive. As you know, the prizes were started by a Swedish called Alfred Nobel. He was born in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. Alfred Nobel was a great scientist. He made two important inventions, and so he became very rich. Although he was rich, Nobel was not happy. He never married or had children. Also, he was a sick man during his large part of life. When he died at the age of 63, he left a fund of $9, 000, 000. The money was to be used in giving prizes to those who made great achievements in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and world peace.

The first Nobel Prize was given on December 10, 1901, five years after Nobel’s death. Since then many famous people from all over the world have been given Nobel Prizes for their achievements.

Each prize has three parts. The first part is a gold medal. Second, a winner of a Nobel Prize is given a certificate, saying that he has been given the prize. The third part of the prize is a large amount of money—about $40, 000.

Often a prize is given to just one person, but not always. Sometimes a prize is shared. It may be given to two or more people who have worked together. It is also sometimes true that a prize is not given at all if there is no great achievement. In 1972, for example, no Nobel Peace Prize was given.

文章大意:本文主要介绍了常吃薯片可能带来的一些健康问题。

When the idea of having some snack foods comes to mind, there’s a good chance that you will think of a bag of potato chips at once. Yes, potato chips are one of the most common snacks in our daily life. They are very popular among both children and adults. It’s very easy for us to eat a whole bag of chips in a few minutes. But have you ever stopped and thought about what exactly happens to your body when you eat potato chips, especially if you eat a big bag every day?

If you eat potato chips every day, you are likely to put on weight. A study shows that people who have potato chips as a part of their diets gain weight easily. It’s no wonder they are on the list of snacks that cause you to gain weight.

Studies have also shown that a high intake of sodium (钠的大量摄入) is connected with a higher risk of high blood pressure. One of the main components (成分) of potato chips is sodium. If you often eat potato chips, over time, you’re going to end up developing high blood pressure.

Besides, you could increase the risk of getting cancer. This seems a bit extreme (极端的). However, according to the American Cancer Society, potato chips have acrylamide, something that is created in high-starch (高淀粉) foods when they’re cooked in hot oil, over a fire, or in an oven. Studies on mice have shown that it has something to do with cancer.

Thinking about all these, what should you do then? Just take it easy. You needn’t worry too much. If you can limit yourself to a small, snack-size bag of potato chips once in a while, instead of eating a large bag every day, you’ll be fine.

根据材料内容选择最佳答案。

文章大意:本文就如何结束家庭战争提出了几点建议。

Seeing people in your family fight can be really terrible. Whether the fight is about you or not, you might feel sad, angry or even ashamed (难为情的) when your family members shout at each other. Do you want to know how to end a family fight? Here are some ideas.

Keep your cool.     16     If you are very angry, you can try to take a deep breath or count to 10. Before you talk with your family members, you can also make some physical movements. For example, you can hit a baseball a few times or beat your pillow (枕头) heavily.

Call a family meeting. See if there’s a good time that works for everyone in your family to get together.     17     If you are a young boy or girl, try asking your parents to call a family meeting.

Listen to everyone.     18     That way, everyone can say what’s going on. Sometimes, letting everyone talk is not easy, especially when their words make you mad. However, if you let everyone talk, they’ll listen to what you will say, too.

19     Instead of blaming (责备) your family members or calling them out, try to speak out your feelings as peacefully as possible. For example, instead of saying “You shout at me too much”, you could say, “I feel afraid when you shout at me.”

20     You should try to think up something that everyone in the family is okay with. Encourage your other family members to think up good ideas that can make everyone satisfied. If your family can’t come up with a solution (解决办法), you can ask an expert for help.

根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使文章意思通顺、内容完整。
A.Use “I” to express your feelings.
B.It’s not easy to keep calm during a fight.
C.Give everyone in the family a chance to speak.
D.Come up with a solution together.
