Simon’s mother has a good idea to help him with his revision.

Simon stared down at his book. He was reading the same page for the third time. It was no good. He couldn’t remember a thing! He was tired and bored. It was a beautiful sunny day, but he was unhappy because he had to stay inside studying. Then he heard the phone ring.

A few minutes later Simon’s mum came into his room and said, “That was your Uncle Jim on the phone. He has two tickets for the football match. Would you like to go?” “I’d love to go,” said Simon, “but I’ve got too much work to do.”

His mum looked at him. “You look tired and unhappy. I think a break would do you good.” Simon jumped up. He hugged his mum and rushed off to meet his uncle.

Uncle Jim got excellent seats for the match. The football was exciting. At half-time the score was 2-2 and Simon could not wait for the second half to begin. In the second half, Simon’s favourite player scored a goal to win the match. Simon cheered so much that he nearly lost his voice. After the match Uncle Jim had arranged for Simon to meet some of the players. It was an amazing experience.

Back at home Simon could not stop talking about his day. He knew that the break had done him good. He felt happy, full of energy and ready for more revision!

Mother spoke to the man in French. He answered her in French. They had a short conversation. Mother turned to the station master.

“This man is ill, and he has no money. I will take him home with me. We cannot leave him here.” “Perhaps he is a dangerous criminal,” the station master said. “I should call the police. He traveled on the train without a ticket.”

“Please don’t,” Mother said, “I am sure he is a good man.” “Very well,” the station master said, “but I think you are foolish.” He walked away.

“Help this gentleman to walk, “Mother said. “He is very weak.”

Roberta and Peter stood on either side of the man. He leaned on them and very slowly walked from the station to the cottage. When they got there, Mother made up a bed for him. Then she said, “Go for the doctor, Roberta.”

Roberta went to fetch the doctor.

“We can’t pay you,” she said. “But the man is very ill, please come.” …

All of us have friends, and we often classify(分类) them as ordinary(普通的) friends, good friends, best friends and bad friends. How do we make friends with others? What kind of people should we choose to be our true friends? Let’s have a look .

Have good qualities

We should choose someone with a good quality as our friend. As the saying goes, “One takes the behavior(行为) of one’s company(陪伴).” For example, if we stay close to those dishonest people, we will also become dishonest.

If people always would like to make progress, they won’t stop. So if we make friends with those people, we will also try to learn from them.

Be able to help you

We are not able to finish everything by ourselves. We may need someone to help us with our study or other things in our daily life.

For most of us, one or two true friends are enough. They will always stay with you whether(是否) you are happy or not.

Remember not to make friends with those people—when you are successful, they will run to you, but when you are in trouble, they will leave you.

When people shower, their hair fall off. Lucy Gafford from Alabama, US, uses her shower hair to create detailed works of art right on her bathroom wall.

Three years ago, the “Shower Hair Master” discovered that her wet hair made a special art medium（媒介物）while showering. One day, she gathered the hair that came off her head while washing it, and spread（铺开）it on the bathroom wall, as she usually did. She planned to throw it away after she was done, but this time she noticed that the hair made up a shape（形状）. So she started playing around with the hair and ended up creating a squirrel.

Lucy thought it would be funny to post her shower hair work online, so she photographed the squirrel and posted it on social media. It was only supposed to be a joke, but a lot of people really liked it. So she started getting serious about it and hasn’t looked back since then.

Ever since that very first shower hair squirrel she shared at the beginning of 2014, Lucy has posted new “drawings” at least once a week. She has created 420 pieces of artwork so for. All of her works are done by hand. She doesn’t draw the picture and place the hair over them. Instead, she just takes the wet hair on her bathroom wall and touches them with her fingers to make all these wonderful hair drawings.
