Can you cut an apple with a playing card（扑克牌）? Can you write with one hand and draw with ________? Well, some people can, and they all show their ________ talents on the television program, China’s Got Talent. The TV program is getting more and more ________ in China. Many people watch it every week ________ they wonder how talented one can be.

Talent shows ________ in Britain. And now there are similar shows in lots of countries ________ the world. China’s Got Talent is the newest, but it ________ others. When people show their special talents, they also ________ their most touching or funniest stories. Most of them don’t want to be famous（出名的）. They ________ want to make their family laugh and want to make others laugh, too.

Rick is only fifteen years old, but he’s very rich. Two years ago, Rick started a football website for young people. “I became interested in computers 7 years ago because my father worked with computers. As a little boy, I also loved football and I decided to make a website for people of my age.”

Rick started the “Football OK”, and now more than 20,000 people visit it every day.

Rick is a schoolboy and a businessman（商人）, too. He usually gets up at six o’clock and checks his emails. Then he goes to school from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. In the evenings, he always works for about four hours on his website.

Rick’s next plan is a new website. “At the moment I am thinking about a new website on American football, maybe for the next year.”

Talking about the future, Rick says he doesn’t know about it. “Maybe I will sell the website. I really don’t know. I’ll just wait and see.” He always says, “Nothing is impossible.”

Really anything is possible.

Each New Year is a time for change and a fresh start, so many people like to make New Year’s Resolutions(决心). A New Year’s Resolution is a promise you make to yourself to do something good or to stop doing something bad in the New Year. Here are some teenagers’ New Year’s Resolutions for 2020.

My New Year’s Resolution is to get healthy. I’ll stop drinking soda, and I’ll eat more fruit at least an apple every day. I’ll also do more exercise, such as playing basketball for half an hour every day.

In his book, Matthews tells us how to have a happy life and answers the questions of teenagers.

The book says we should stop being angry. The book also tells us about some useful skills. For example, if you want to make your memory better, you can put what you’ve learned into pictures of your mind. Many teenagers think that happiness comes from good grades of praise from other people. But you can still be happy when there are no such “good” things.

Success comes from a good attitude（态度）. If you learn from problems, you will have success in the future. Some school boys have problems, such as being too tall or too short. But Matthews tells us that happiness comes from thinking about things in a positive（积极地）way.

If you are tall, you can get a better view（视线） at the movie; if you are short, your clothes and shoes take less room in your bedroom! This is Matthew’s most important lesson: You choose to be happy!

French and American doctors have done an operation (手术) together in which the doctors were outside the operating room. This kind of operation is known as robotic operation.

Doctor Marescaux did the operation in an office in New York City last month, while a sixty-eight-year-old woman patient (病人) was in a hospital in Strasbourg, France.

A doctor in Strasbourg got the patient ready. He placed medical tools and a small video camera in her stomach area. Doctor Marescaux in New York watched the patient on a video screen. Then he used the computer to send messages to the robot machine.

The robot moved the tools that cut the woman’s gallbladder (胆囊) away. The woman got well soon after the operation and left the hospital two days later.

Experts say the main problem with such a robotic operation is based on high-speed telecommunications (通讯系统) between the doctor and the robot. Technology must be able to send a doctor’s order to a robot to move the tool quickly.

Experts also say a successful robotic operation will improve an operation. For example, the robot can make such smaller movements than a person can. A robot machine can turn tools in ways that a doctor’s hand can not.

Doctors say such a robotic operation will make safer and better operations in the future. They say it will improve doctor training. It will also mean that doctors could do an operation on people in dangerous places far away. And it could mean that people could have operations done by top doctors without having to travel to the city where the doctors work.

My family makes the best chicken salad. Dad prepares（准备）all of the ingredients and Mom makes the relish. There are a few things that make this chicken salad different from the other chicken salads. First, we use fruit jam（果酱）in the relish. You can buy any fruit jam, like banana jam or orange jam. But we have bottles of strawberry jam that my mother made, so we use the strawberry jam. Second, we put some green olives（橄榄）. Green olives give the salad an interesting taste and make a big difference. Now let me tell you how my family makes the salad.

First, mix up all of the salad ingredients（佐料）in a large bowl. The ingredients are chicken, tomatoes, green olives, onions and apples. If you like lettuce, you can also put some. Next, make the relish. Please mix the jam, the juice and the salt. Finally, mix the relish（调料）with the salad ingredients.
