Thomas was worried. Spring holiday was coming, but he didn’t know what to do. Where would he go? Who would he see? What would he do? He didn’t have much money, so he couldn’t do a lot.

Should he go to an amusement park? Should he try to get a cheap plane ticket to visit his grandma? Should he go out to have fun with friends? It was so hard to decide. He sat down and wrote down the things he could do. Then he thought about the good and bad parts of each idea. After that, he tried to see the price of each choice.

Amusement park:

•GOOD: fun; exciting; good for taking photos; not far away

•BAD: only one day; not cheap; hot outside

•COST: $75-$100

Fly to see Grandma:

•GOOD: grandma’s cooking; fun; stay there for a few days

•BAD: not very exciting; plane ride can be long; expensive

•COST: $200-$300

Go out with friends:

•GOOD: fun to see friends; can be cheap; every day is different

•BAD: can only do that on the weekend; can’t go anywhere special

•COST: $0-$50

When he finished writing, the choice was clear. He would go to the amusement park first, but he shouldn’t spend too much money there. Then, he would call his grandma and see if he could visit her in summer. After that, he would go out with his friends for a few days. He was sure he would have a great spring holiday.

On Tuesday afternoon, as awful rain fell, a woman was trapped (困住) by rising water in her car while taking two grandchildren home.

While trapped in the _______, the woman called her daughter, Liu, at once. The daughter got their location (位置) by the description of nearby shops and _______ to call those shops, but it didn’t work. She later posted a message on WeChat Moments, calling for _______.

Her message was noticed by Chen, the dance teacher of the children trapped in the car. On his way home, Chen rushed to the place at once _______ thinking twice.

On my recent travels in China, I went from the top to the bottom of the country. I was surprised at     36     different the weather was in different cities.

So far I have been really cold in Harbin and Chongli, but much     37     in Shanghai, Guilin, Qingdao and Yangshuo. Each city has a(n)     38     different feeling.

Water is the most important of all the things we eat and drink. Not many people understand this but it’s true. The human body can go without food for a long time. We’ve got many examples for this.
