Jane is an Australian girl. She likes sports very much. Last year, she went to climb a high mountain. When she began to climb, she wanted to reach the top ________. So she ran fast all the way. A few years ago, my husband and I were on island for a long weekend with our 3 and 4-year-old daughters. As we went back and thought about ________ to do next, our girls jumped in and told us their ideas. Ariela and Eliana said that they wanted to go to the ________ museum.

My husband, Rashid, arrived in Sydney by himself from India. He stayed in a hotel while looking for a house for me and our children.

During the first week of his stay, he went out to do some shopping. Unluckily, when he came back, he discovered that his suitcase (手提箱) with all his important papers in it was gone!

He reported the case to the police and then sat there, lost and lonely in a strange city. He almost believed there was no hope to get the lost papers back.

Late in the evening, the phone rang. It was a stranger. Then he told my husband they had found some papers in their trash box. My husband rushed to their home to find a kind family holding all his papers. Their young daughter had gone to the box and found some unfamiliar(不熟悉的) papers. Her parents had carefully picked them out, although they had found mainly foreign addresses on most of the papers. It was not easy for them to finally see the half-written letter in which my husband had given his new telephone number to a friend.

For that family, those papers were of no value. However, they took the trouble to find the owner of the “rubbish”. They not only restored the important papers to us that day but also restored our faith and trust in people. We still remember their kindness and often send a warm wish in their way.

Have you ever jumped on a trampoline (蹦床)? Today many people use it for exercise.

Back in the 1980s, researchers found that jumping on a trampoline was a good way to help astronauts regain their strength. Actually, trampolining has many advantages. It helps bones and muscles grow and improves your balance by stimulating the inner ear. It is useful for increasing flow of the lymphatic system, which helps your body get rid of harmful toxins. Trampolining has benefits similar to those of running, but without too much stress on knees and ankles.

If you would like to start trampolining, you may first need to ask a doctor to make sure it’s a safe activity for you. It’s easy to find an inexpensive trampoline, but it should be well made and strong enough to support your weight. To avoid accidents, some trampolines have 8 safety net around them. Remember: whenever you are on a trampoline, be careful not to jump near the edge of it.

Here are a few exercises for beginners:

★High Knee Lift. Raise one knee at a time. Lift your knee higher than you usually do when you are running.

★Star Jump. Jump into the air and spread your arms and legs into a star shape. As you gain more confidence, practice more difficult levels.

★Tuck Jump. At the top of your jump, bring the knees to the chest with the arms holding the legs.

★Pike Jump. Jump high, bring the legs up, and point the toes forward. Touch your toes with hands.

In summer, the high heat always makes you feel uncomfortable.     31     Actually, to stay cool and comfortable, you can try lots of natural ways, including water, fans, cool drinks and more. Here let’s see how to use water to cool down.

Drink water more often. Your body will feel cooler if you do that. Try drinking at least eight bottles of water every day. Adding orange, lemon, or tomato pieces to your water makes it more refreshing.     32    

Freeze a handkerchief (手帕) to cool your body. You can put it on your neck, forehead, arms or legs.     33     When the handkerchief heats up, simply wet it and put it back in the fridge. You can also put an icepack behind your head.

Run cold water over your wrists (手腕). Wet your wrists and other parts, such as your neck and your inner elbows, with cool water for 10 seconds each. This will lower your temperature for a little bit.     34     This can be especially helpful for cooling down right before you go to bed.

Fill your bathtub (浴缸) with cool water and get in. Once you are used to the temperature, let some water and refill it with cold water. Keep doing this until you feel cool enough.     35     With the right ways, you can avoid the heat while saving money by turning off the air conditioning.
