Hobbies are great ways to spend your time. Some hobbies can even change the way you see the world. Let’s take painting as an example.
Think for a moment about what colour clouds are. Did you think white? Take a closer look at them next time. Clouds are mostly white, but the colours also include black, grey, yellow, pink and even blue. It depends on so many factors, like what time of day you are looking at them, the type of clouds or the angle(角度) you’re looking at them. In the sunset, you’ll see many colours in clouds but you won’t see at mid-afternoon.
Painting is also a great way to notice shapes. One of the easiest ways to paint faces or objects is to break them down into their relative shapes and combine them together. Everything in the world can be broken down into things like circles, squares and triangles. It’s like putting pieces of a puzzle together as you’re creating your painting.
If you take up painting, you’ll see more colours and shapes in the world. You’ll notice subtle influences(细微的影响) of colours on evening and will be able to break anything down into their relative shapes. So everything is more beautiful than ever.

“They don’t have to be like you to be friends with you,” Mum said.
When I got to school, I kept an eye out for other humans (人). I found a few in the halls, but I was the only one in my class. Nobody talked to me all morning. At lunch, I found that all the other humans were eating with other species. I found only one table with empty (空的) chairs. There, alone, sat one of my classmates, Hululialana. She had many tentacles (触手). I spoke to her with great care (关心), “Hello, Hululialana.”

I sat down. “Thank you,” I said. We looked at each other, then away.
