Last summer we went on an exciting trip to Sarawak in Malaysia, a part of the island(岛) of Borneo (婆罗洲). Borneo is famous ____ its rainforest, which covers 427,500 square kilometers of the island. This rainforest is 130 million years old, making it one of the ____ rainforests in the world.

When we were in Sarawak, we were lucky enough to go hiking ____ the jungle(丛林). In the jungle we came across many wild ____ . Our favourite animals were orangutans (猩猩). We watched them jump ____ tree to tree. The graceful(优美的) and gentle animals made us feel even closer to ____ .

It was nearly dark, the sun was dropping down the mountains far away. Little Tom came back home with tears in his eyes.

“What’s the matter, Tom? How’s your trip?” his mother asked with a big smile. “I failed. The mountain is so high and full of big or small stones on the way. I still went ahead. But I was tired and it was so late that I had to come back.” Tom cried. “It doesn’t matter, you are only 14 years old after all. You will have another chance.” his mother said. “But, standing at the top of the mountain is my dream!” Tom said. His father came over and asked, “Did you see the green trees on your way to the mountain?” “Sure, and there are a lot of beautiful flowers by the side of the road,” Tom answered. “Did you hear the birds singing?” his father asked. “There were many kinds of birds singing in the trees, and the sound was very sweet,” Tom said. “Did you feel the beauty of nature?” his father asked. “Yes, the blue sky, the white clouds, the green trees and the colorful flowers made a nice picture.” Tom answered. “That’s enough!” his father smiled and said, “Please remember, son. For often, getting what you expect is not the most important thing. Although you didn’t reach the top of the mountain, you got a lot on the way.”

It is true that not every job will end up with a success, and not every dream will come true. The most beautiful scenery (风景) is on the way.

On his first day he was inside a church taking photos when he noticed a golden telephone on the wall with a sign that read "$10,000 per call". Jay was intrigued so he asked a priest (牧师) what the telephone was used for. The priest told him that it was a direct (直接的) line to heaven（天堂）and that for $10,000 you could talk to God. Jay thanked the priest and went along his way.

Next stop was in Des Moines, and there at a very large church, he saw the same looking golden telephone with the same sign under it. A nearby nun（修女）told him that it was a direct line to heaven and that for $10,000 he could talk to God.

Jay decided to travel to Australia to see if they had a similar phone. He arrived at Western Australia, and again, in the church he entered, there was the same looking golden telephone, but this time the sign under it read "40 cents per call."

Jay was a little surprised and asked the priest about the sign. "Father（神父）Brian, I travelled all over the world and I saw this same golden telephone in many churches. I know it is a direct line to Heaven, but in all of them price was $10,000 per call. Why is it so cheap here? "

Father Brian smiled and answered, "My son, you're in Australia now - this is Heaven, so it's only a local call. "

My mother loves flowers. We live next door to each other, so she often spends much time planting flowers in my garden. In summer, she often makes colourful bouquets(花束) and puts them inside the houses—both hers and mine.

Much more pencils are thrown away than pens. Pencils are made of trees, so if more pencils are thrown away, more trees will be cut down. So students should reuse paper, pens and pencils instead of throwing them away.

Backpacks

As fashion comes and goes, almost every kid needs a new backpack every year. They can save a lot of money and materials(材料) if they reuse the same schoolbags.
