Gao Ziren, a 61-year-old teacher, has something wrong with his left leg. He started to teach village students more than forty years ago. For the past years, Gao has worn out more than 60 crutches(拐杖).
Born into a family in the town, Gao was unable to walk normally after having polio(小儿麻痹症) at the age of one. He didn’t give up, trying to finish his studies from primary school through high school.
Gao started his teaching in 1977. At that time, someone in the village invited him to be a teacher in the village because one of the two teachers there left. Gao agreed to do the work without thinking twice because he knew the importance of a teacher to students.
The roads weren’t good in the past, so Gao often fell on the way to school. “He has difficulty walking, but he is usually the first to get to school,” said a teacher who worked with Gao Ziren for many years. During those days when the teaching conditions(条件) were still poor in the area, he usually brought some desks and chairs from home and bought pens, pencils or exercise books for the poor students.
“I have already taught many students since I became a teacher. Some students would like to visit me during the holidays, and it feels good that someone remembers you,” Gao Ziren said.

Schools in Germany are advising their students to bring blankets(毯子) to schools and wear hats and coats during lessons as part of the fight against COVID-19.
According to the new rule of the government(政府), schools need to open the classroom windows every twenty minutes. And they need to open the doors to let fresh air in. However, in parts of Germany, daytime temperatures are not high, so many classrooms are too cold for students to study comfortably in. In winter, temperatures are often below zero. Anyone can know how cold the classrooms will be if windows or doors are open. So schools in that country get new ideas.
A school in Bochum advises its students to bring warm clothes with hats and blankets to school. And schools in Dusseldorf ask their students to wear coats and gloves during lessons. In a letter to students, an education official(官员) from Lower Saxony says that classrooms will get a little cold and wants students to wear warm clothes.
However, doctors disagree with the government, saying that this is bad for students’ health. “It’s not a good idea to open the windows and doors. Students will easily get colds,” Dr Stephan Pilsinger says. “It won’t help to fight against COVID-19, but will probably make things worse.”
Germany was one of the first countries in Europe to open schools again after COVTD-19 appeared, but now it has new problems.
