Tea and coffee are two of the most popular drinks in the world. However, people usually like one more than the other. These drinks also have very different uses.

Tea drinking started in China about 5000 years ago. Tea is made from leaves. These days, some people drink tea for health, using it to help with stress（压力）or losing their weight. However, most people in tea-drinking countries think of tea as more than just a healthy drink. In fact, tea drinking in some countries is a part of the culture. In Turkey, tea is always offered as a way of welcome. In the UK, homes and offices usually have teatime. Tea and other dishes are served at teatime in the afternoon. It is a way of relaxing with friends or co-workers.

Coffee came much later than tea, just over 1000 years ago. Coffee is made from beans. Something in the coffee beans makes a person feel active. Most people do not drink coffee to relax. Instead, they drink coffee to get going. Many people drink coffee in the morning to help them wake up. Others will also drink coffee during short breaks in the afternoon to keep going through the working day. Some people may visit coffee shops just to meet and talk with friends.However, many people in coffee shops drink coffee while working on their computers.

Last week, I finally managed to ask my parents to buy me a new football shirt for the school match. I was very excited and wore it to the training before the match, but I wished I hadn’t done that! My new shirt was torn（破损的）after the training and only a tailor（裁缝）could help!

As I walked home worriedly, I saw a shop sign：ALL KINDS OF REPAIRS AND SERVICES! I went inside at once. I looked around the shop and saw broken toys, broken chairs...I wondered if I was in the wrong place. Just at that moment, a man with white hair came up to me and said cheerfully, “welcome! This is a repair shop and I can repair everything!”

“But...what I need is a tailor to deal with my football shirt.”

“You’ve come to the right place. I’ve been waiting a long, long time to repair a football shirt.”

“Really?” I held the shirt in my hands.

To my surprise, he took the shirt from me, put on glasses and sat down on the sofa with my shirt in his hands.“I guess you are a striker（前锋）, “he smiled. How could he know? The man gave me a wink（眼色）and said calmly, “See the picture on the wall? That was me 30 years ago.”

I couldn’t believe my eyes! He was Orhan, the famous footballer who was on the city team years ago! I told him that I was playing for the school team and I had been his fan for years. I told him everything, my dream, my practice and even my dad’s words. “Dad think I should be an engineer or a doctor” I lowered my head.

“Follow your dream, choose a job that you love and carry on.” The man smiled at me with his blue eyes. He patted（轻拍）on my shoulder and put the shirt which he had repaired in my bag.

Today I have become a footballer and I still keep the shirt in my closet.

Some people say life is like crossing a river.     41    

I think our life is much more like climbing a mountain. Each year we have a new mountain to climb. To reach our goals, we work hard to make progress day after day.     42     We can complain(抱怨) about how unfair it is to climb a new mountain every day. Or, we can just make ourselves busy.

Sometimes, we fall over. Here we have another choice.     43     Or, we can stand on our feet and begin climbing that mountain again.

If we reach the goal for this year, we start from zero to reach the goal for next year. We shouldn’t spend the rest of our lives looking at where we used to be.     44    

Many people will waste time worrying, “Can I reach my final goal?” or “Is it worth doing?”     45     The question is, “Can I take the next step in the right direction?”

I was a homeless cat, but I lived a happy life because I worked hard every day. I was strong and brave and I could run fast. I always walked around my neighborhood to catch mice. I didn’t lack food. When the weather was warm, I could lie in the sun and enjoyed a relaxing and happy life.

One day a girl moved into my neighborhood. She was a kind girl and noticed that I was homeless. Every day she went to and from work and put food around my house, a battered（破旧的）box. The food was delicious and plentiful. So I didn’t have to go out and catch mice by myself. Every day I did nothing and just waited for my delicious food. As time went on, I got fatter and fatter. I could not run very fast. But what did this have to do with me? I had enough food now!

But I didn’t know why this kind girl suddenly moved away one day. I had no more food to eat. But I couldn’t catch mice because of the big weight. There were some mice in the neighborhood. The neighbors began to complain it. My miserable（悲惨的）life began.

I really wished I hadn’t met that kind girl. Her kindness made me lose the drive to live hard. So we should not lose our ability in the easy and comfortable life. Otherwise we’ll be miserable.

In China, very few children make pocket money. However, in western countries, most kids make pocket money by themselves in many different     51    .

When kids are very young, they may help parents do housework     52     money at home. When they reach sixteen, they can do part-time jobs in     53     free time.

There are many advantages of making pocket money. First of all, they learn the value of money by     54     hard. Second, they learn to manage money to buy things they need or want, such as books, movies and clothes they like. Third, they learn to deal with the daily life problems when they help others.
