Once there was a farmer. He lived near a road. It was not a busy road, but from time to time cars passed the farm. Near the farm gate, there was a large hole in the road. The hole was always full of water, and the drivers of the cars could not see how deep the hole was. They thought that it was not deep. Then when they drove their cars into the hole they could not drive out of it because it was so deep. The farmer didn’t spend much time working on his farm. He spent most of it watching the hole. When a car drove into it, he pulled the car out with his tractor and asked the driver for a lot of money for doing this. One day, the driver of a car said to him, “You must make a lot of money by pulling cars out of this hole day and night.” “Oh no,” said the farmer. “I don’t pull cars out of the hole at night. At night, I fill the hole with water.”

The last time I saw my best friend was about one and a half years ago. It was her 13th birthday. and I flew hundreds of kilometers to see her. It was just like a movie! She came into the room, and suddenly I jumped out of the closet (衣柜) and said to her, “Happy Birthday!”

When someone lives very far away from his/ her best friend, how to keep a friendship? I’d like to tell you something about it.

Phone calls

Talking to your best friend often keeps the friendship going! If the phone call doesn’t always talk about you two, that’s fine. Sometimes friendship is about knowing that someone’s on the other line.

Be there with him/her

Life is different for everyone. Sometimes you may feel quite busy and tired. Sometimes you may need a long sleep after studying for a long time. But if your best friend needs help. you have to be there and maybe lose an hour of sleep, just like they did the same thing for you before.

Buy gifts

This is a fun one and a must! It’s always the best idea. It doesn’t have to be a lot or how expensive, but it will let them know you are always thinking about them.

Learn to understand

We know that people won’t stay the same. Maybe you feel your best friend starts to be more and more like a different person. Don’t blame (责怪) him/her, because you are not the same one like before. Everyone grows, so relax and try to understand him/her.

I’m Jenny. Last Sunday my family went to the Forest Family Camp. It was really great. It was a place with no TV, computer or car, but there was so much fun. In the morning, my father drove us to the forest. After we got there, my father and I put up the tent. (3) My mom made a fire to cook food on. My sister played with our pet dog. In the afternoon, my mother and my sister picked strawberries in the forest. My father and I swam in a beautiful lake. In the evening, it was the important family time. (4) We spent our evening sitting by the fire and talking. When we felt tired, we went to our tent slept. It is our first time to go to the camp, but it won’t be the last time. We want to go there again.
