Here comes autumn! Autumn is a season of change. It brings new scenery and different experiences. You can easily fall in love with it.

Animals get ready for winter in autumn. Birds fly to warmer places. Squirrels collect lots of nuts. Those are their food during the winter. Deer grow thicker fur. The fur can keep them warm in winter time.

Autumn is also the harvest season. Farmers are busy harvesting apples, pears and oranges. After September in the US, people are busy picking pumpkins. They make them into everything, from pies and soups to jack-o'-lanterns on Halloween.

A giant ship’s engine broke. So the ship lost power. The ship’s owners were very worried. They tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure out how to fix the engine.

Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was young.

He carried a large bag of tools with him. When he arrived, he immediately went to work. He examined the engine very carefully, from top to bottom.

The ship’s owners were there, watching the man. They hoped he would know what to do.

After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped（轻敲）something.

Instantly, the engine started back up. He then carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed!

A week later, the ship owners received a bill from the old man for $10, 000.

“What?!” the owners shouted. “He hardly did anything!”

So they wrote the old man a note saying, “Please send us an itemized （逐条记录的）bill.”

The man sent a bill that read：

The world is a lot greener thanks to a young man named Felix Finkbeiner. Ever since he was 9 years old, he has been trying lo save the planet. In 2007， the German created an environmental organizatian called "Plant - for - Planet" . It encourages and trains children from around the world to plant trees as a way of fighting against climate change, The first tree for Plant - for - the - Planet was planted in Starnberg (施塔思贝格) Germany in March, 2007.

Since its creation, the organization has already made great progress with the help of over 100，000 children between the ages of 9 and 12. One year after it was created, 150，000 trees had been planted. And four years after it was created, it had achieved its goal of planting a total of 1 million trees around the world.

Felix once said in a speech, "Forests are not only the livelihood (生计) of billions, but for us children forests are our future. " It inspired kids from over 90 countrics to join his movement (活动)

In 2011， the United Nations handed over (移交) its Billion Tree Campaign (战役) to Plant-for-the-Planet. The Billion Tree Campaign was inspired by Wangan Maathai from Kenya (肯尼亚) ， an African country. Her Green Belt Movement planted more than 30 million trees in Africa. In 2017， the Billion Tree Campaign became the Trillion (万亿) Trees Campaign: to plant one trillion trees in the next 30 years. There are about 3 trillion trees alive in the world today, so planting a trillion more would be a huge increase. That's about 150 trees for every person on Earth.
