My hometown Nam Dinh is about 90 km southeast of Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi. It is a small but beautiful city.

There are many different ways to travel around Nam Dinh. You can take the bus, taxi, motorbike, bicycle or Xich Lo. And I strongly suggest the Xich Lo tour to you. The Xich Lo is a kind of bicycle but it has three wheels(轮子). When you travel by Xich Lo, you sit in the front of the bicycle and someone rides the bicycle at the back of it. Many visitors enjoy it because it is cheap and comfortable.

In Nam Dinh, Xuan Thuy National Park is a must. Many birds fly to the south in winter and return to the north in spring every year. Because of their stopovers(中途停留) in the forest of the park, the best time to visit the park is from October to April of the following year. In the park, you can take a walk on the islands or take a boat trip to watch the wildlife along the water. Best of all, you don’t need to buy a ticket to enter the park.

East or west, home is best. Wherever I go and stay, I always miss my hometown. I’m sure if you go there one day, you’ll love it too.

When dolphins were in danger, Hardy Jones was always ready to help them. Jones made films about dolphins and they helped save the lives of millions of dolphins.

Jones started making films in the late 1970s. At first, he just wanted to swim with wild dolphins at sea, but he knew little about them. So he began to learn about dolphins. It wasn’t long before he decided to leave his work in television and protect dolphins and other animals of the sea. When he found that many dolphins died because of fishing, he made a film about fishing and killing dolphins. Many people saw it and spoke out against overfishing(过度捕捞) . Finally, many fishermen had to cut back on dolphin fishing. “It was then that I found out how powerful a man with a camera could be,” Jones said.

Besides, many people caught dolphins for dolphin shows or swim-with-dolphins programs. They were bad for dolphins. In the wild, dolphins swim up to 100 miles a day and they have many friends. So they could never be happy in a tank(水池) with just a few other dolphins. In fact, more than half of wild dolphins die soon after being caught. So before Jones died in 2018, he tried his best to save the dolphins.

Michael Jordan is certainly the richest and most famous sports star ever. Everyone knows “the King of Basketball”, one of the best basketball players in the world.

It wasn’t easy for Jordan to become a top basketball player. For a time, he had to leave the basketball team because he was too short. At that time, he was about 1.8 metres tall. But Jordan didn’t give up. He practised longer and harder every day, and later he grew to about 1.9 metres.

Jordan was not an excellent player at first. He knew he was not a genius, so he never stopped practising. He not only worked hard, but also tried to break through his limits（极限）all the time. Soon he became an NBA star and finally became one of the best basketball players in the world.

Together with his team the Chicago Bulls. Jordan also gave a new meaning to basketball. He played 13 NBA seasons with the team, and they won first place six times. During the matches, he could make wonderful jumps, almost like flying in the air. Because of this, people liked to name him “Air Jordan”.

All of these made him part of the pop culture in the 1990s. He once said that he could be successful because he worked harder than anyone else.

Swimming is a good way to keep cool in hot summer. But for winter swimmers like XingYuesheng, swimming in cold water is more like a challenge(挑战).

Xing first tried the sport in Yuyuantan Park in Beijing in January 2009. He got the idea from a classmate who sometimes went winter swimming. The pair then started to take a cold bath(冷水澡) every day. It helped make both of them strong and in good health.

In 2014, Xing learned that more and more people joined in winter swimming games. Xing also wanted to have a try. So in November that year, he took part in the 21st Qiandao Lake National Winter Swimming Championship in Hangzhou, Zhejiang and he did well in it. Seeing hope, Xing started to train to be a winter swimmer. With growing confidence, he went winter swimming and took Bayi Lake as his winter swimming venue(场所).

Now, the 63-year-old usually swims 400 to 500 meters for 8 to 11 minutes. On Feb. 13 this year, Xing Yuesheng jumped into the ice-cold water, holding the flag of the 24th Beijing Winter Olympics. It was his special way to celebrate the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics.
