How do you feel about looking at old photos? Do you have any photos that are quite special to you? Recently, I found many old photos of Mom, Dad, Nana, my brothers, me and my first ________ Duke. They mean a lot to me, so my daughter used a new app to help make them clear. Looking at these old photos ________ so many loving, happy memories（记忆）. I even used ________ as my computer screen saver（屏保）.

It is a photo of me sitting in my favorite chair, next to a bookcase full of old books. I am wearing my special Snoopy sweatshirt, hugging（拥抱）Duke and reading an old book. There is a big smile on my face and a joyful twinkle（闪烁）in my eyes. It was ________ I spent a lot of my winter afternoons as a boy in my old house.

It is ________ how 50 years later that boy still lives inside of me. I still love comfortable chairs, Snoopy clothes, hugging dogs and reading books ________ cold winter days. Yet, when I look in the mirror（镜子）now, all I see is a thin face, gray hair, and lots of wrinkles. The only thing that doesn’t completely（完全地）change is the ______. They are hiding（隐藏）behind glasses now and full of wisdom given by ages. But they still have that same joyful twinkle.

Looking at the little boy ________ at me from the computer screen and that 56-year-old man looking back at me in the mirror can be a little strange at times. They look so ________. Still, they are both me. We can’t stop getting old, ________ we can stay both joyful and young at heart forever.

Jo was the first to wake up on Christmas morning. When her sisters were awake(醒的) too, they all went down to the kitchen. They looked around, but to their surprise, mother wasn’t there. Only Hannah, their servant(仆人), was at home.

“Your mother went out early,” she said. “A poor boy came to the door asking for food. She was sorry for him and went to see his family.”

When they were waiting for their mother, the girls put their presents(礼物) for her in a basket. Soon they heard the sound of a key in the front door.

“Mother’s here!” cried Jo.

“Hide the basket behind the sofa! Quick!”

Then they all ran into the hall to greet their mother.

“Merry Christmas, Mother!” they cried.

“Merry Christmas, little daughters!” Mrs. March said. She hugged them all and kissed them. Then she suddenly became very serious.

“Girls, listen. I want to say something before breakfast.” They all sat down at the breakfast table and Mrs. March went on.

“I went to see a poor woman this morning. Her name is Mrs. Hummel. She lives near here in one room with her seven children. They are cold and hungry because they don’t have a fire or any food. The oldest boy Jack came to ask me for help. Girls, can we give them our breakfast as a Christmas present?”

For a minute, nobody spoke. But a lot of words came to their mind. “Are they hungry to die?” “Are their clothes all worn out(破烂的)?”. Then Jo said, “Mother, I’m so happy that you came back before we started eating!”

Do you often compare（比较）yourself with other people and wish you could be more like them? We are all different in our own way. Self-acceptance can help you feel happier and better about yourself.

What is self-acceptance?

Self-acceptance means learning to accept（接受）the things that make you who you are. And being thankful for what you’re good at, like sports, science or singing. Self-acceptance also means valuing（重视）the parts of you that don’t shine very brightly, like being forgetful or untidy. A 12-year-old girl, Lily, says self-acceptance means “knowing your own weaknesses and strengths（强项）, and accepting who you are no matter what other people say or think.”

Why is self-acceptance good for you?

When you accept who you are, you worry less about things you can’t change. It makes you feel happier and more confident. The Anna Freud Centre, a charity that helps young people, says everyone can feel that they have to be perfect（完美的）, but that makes us forget about the little things that make us special. ▲ For example, some people may find letters or numbers hard to read, but they might have strengths in other things, like finding good ways to work out problems.

How can you accept yourself?

Start by making a list of all the things you like about yourself. Maybe you’re good at cooking, or people find it easy to talk to you. Also, try saying kind, happy things to yourself in a mirror every morning. Think up ways to treat yourself, such as taking a long shower, watching your favorite film, or eating delicious ice-cream. But don’t forget it’s important to eat healthy food and get enough sleep.

①In the past ten years, AI-driving（人工智能驾驶）has achieved an important milestone in development（发展）. The first AI-driving bus went on a road test in Shenzhen in 2017. Changsha became the first city in China to use AI-driving taxis in 2020. And now, you can even take an AI-driving taxi in Chongqing.

②In an AI-driving car, AI plays the driver’s role. A special tool is put at the front and sides of the car to get information from the road, and then send it to the central part to make decisions and drive the car.

③AI could be a “better driver” than humans because its reaction（反应）time is much shorter than humans’. Also, unlike humans, AI never gets tired after long-time driving so there is no fear（担心）of this problem. Besides, when two humans drive too close on a road and one has to slow down to avoid（避免）an accident, both would like the other to do so, and this is a big problem because they cannot talk to each other. However, that problem will not happen to two AI-driving cars because they could “talk” through the cloud and decide which one should slow down.

④However, there are more unknown things on real roads. For example, there is a chance that bad people may get into the car and drive it fast.

⑤The biggest problem for AI is not about learning to remember road signs, but about whether（是否）it can have a good reaction in sudden and unexpected situations（突发情况）. People still worry about some safety problems that we didn’t even think about, but after more road tests, it is going to do better.

⑥Although there are still some problems that need to be solved, we can already see AI-driving cars on the road. We believe they are going to be widely used one day. We can just keep waiting and hope to meet them in the near future.
