Last week, my grandma came to visit us. We have dinner together at ________.

How do we make traditional Chinese culture popular again among young people? The livestream (网络直播)   has made it. It is not only fun, but also a new stage (舞台)   for traditional artists.

On video websites and apps such as bilibili and TikTok, many traditional artists are trying the livestream for the first time. Some of them sing Peking Opera (京剧) , some show their handmade pieces of art, while some others perform classical music.

Li, 59 years old, is a laosheng in Peking Opera who started the livestream this year. Unlike performing on a big stage, Li uses everyday places as his stages, including his yard, his bedroom, and even a sofa. Besides singing, Li also teaches people about Peking Opera in a fun way. People can ask him questions and get answers directly. “The livestream has brought this great art to more people,” Li said. “It allows young people to know this traditional art and learn more about it in an easy way.”

Other artists also see the livestream as a new way. Bilibili once live-streamed a fashion show (时装秀) . Performers showed beautiful clothes from the Tang and Ming Dynasties. During the show, people enjoyed the clothes and watched how performers used ancient style of making up. For example, one performer tought people how to draw the guiye eyebrow (叶眉) , which was popular during the Tang Dynasty.

I have a rule for travel: Never carry a map. I prefer to ask for directions.

Foreign visitors are often lost in Japan because most streets there don’t have names. In Japan, people use landmarks in their directions instead of street names. For example, the Japanese will say to travelers. “Go straight down to the corner. Turn left at the big hotel and go past a fruit market. The post office is across from the bus stop.”

In the countryside of the American Midwest, usually there are not many landmarks. Instead of landmarks, people will tell you directions and distance. For example, people will say. “Go north two miles. Turn east, and then go another mile.”

People in Los Angeles, California, have no idea of distance on a map. They measure distance by means of time, not miles, “How far away is the post office?” you ask. “Oh,” they answer, “it’s about five minutes from here.” You say, “Yes, but how many miles away is it?” They usually don’t know. People in Greece sometimes do not even try to give directions because not many visitors can understand the Greek language. Instead of giving you directions,a Greek will often say, “Follow me.” Then he’ll lead you through the streets of the city to the place.

One thing will help you everywhere— in Japan, in the US, in Greece, or in any other place. You may not understand a person’s words, but maybe you can understand his body language. He will usually turn and then point in the correct direction. Go in that direction, and you may find the place!

Xi’an celebrated the first China Hanfu Day on April 18. There were catwalk shows and traditional music concerts which were held by people wearing traditional Chinese clothing.     21     They put them online for a Hanfu photo competition, which lasted until May 18.

China Hanfu Day is on the third day of the third month of the Chinese lunar calendar (农历) , which is said to be the birthday of the Yellow Emperor. In ancient China, this day was also known as Shangsi Festival.     22    

Hanfu is the traditional clothing of the Han people who lived in China before the Qing Dynasty.     23     However, some of its main characteristics (特点) remain. For example, there are two parts on the front, which is called “jiaoling”.     24    

China is becoming a leading country in the world, and the Chinese public feels more confident about its traditional culture than ever before.     25    

Li Wen is a schoolboy and he is fifteen years old. He didn’t use     26     (cause) any problems. His parents tried     27     best to look after him. However, after his parents moved to the city to work, he caused some trouble. He was not interested in studying and he often     28     (get) into trouble with the classmates. Happiness is important for everyone. Most people want to be happy but few know how to find happiness. Money and success don’t bring happiness. Happiness depends on ourselves. In other words, we make our own happiness.

Some people believe that if they have much money, they will be happy. On the other hand, some people believe that holding a high position (位置) in the government is happiness. However, other people believe that being healthy can make them happy.

Here are a few ways to help you be happier.

The first secret of happiness is to enjoy the simple things in life. Too often, we spend so much time thinking about the future, for example, getting into college or getting a good job, that we don’t enjoy the present. You should enjoy life’s simple happiness. We can spend time with close friends. People who have close friends usually enjoy happier and healthier lives.

The second secret of happiness is to be active. Many people go dancing. People can forget about their problems and only think about the activities.

Finally, many people find happiness in helping others. According to studies, people feel good when they volunteer their time to do many meaningful things for other people. If you want to feel happier, do something nice for someone. You can help a friend with his or her studies, go shopping to get food for an old neighbor, or simply help around the house.
