Many teenagers have hobbies. But sometimes these may take their time on _______, and parents might worry about their success at school. Teenagers often insist (坚持) they should be allowed to practice their hobbies as much as they want. Do you agree?

Liu Yi, a fifteen-year-old boy from Shanghai, is a _______ star. He is in his school team and has always wanted to be a professional (职业的) runner when he grows up.

_______ his parents won’t allow him to train (训练) too often. “Of course we want to see him realize his dream,” says Mr. Liu. “And we know how much he loves running. I’m very glad that I am chosen to speak to you all today. I’m a bit nervous(紧张的) as I’ve never made a talk before.

After three years’ hard work, and it’s time to say goodbye to everyone. We’re sorry to leave you at the end of our middle school education, and we’ll never forget the happy time we have spent in these buildings with you all.

I’d like to thank three groups of people for the three things I’ve learnt while I’ve been a student at our school. The three things are friendship, love and knowledge(知识).

The first group is my friends, and what I’ve learnt is the importance of friendship. We work hard together, and we even share some difficult times together, but we also have a lot of fun. Many of us will go to new schools and we may not see each other so often in the future. Others will go on to the same high school and keep on their close friendship. A life without old friends is like a day without sunshine. We’ll always stay in touch(保持联系).

The second group is our parents and grandparents. We thank you for the love during our years at school for making a home. At home we feel happy, safe and relaxed, and we can prepare ourselves for our school days.

And finally, the third group is our teachers. We can never pay you back for your kindness, your patience and knowledge. Sometimes you’ve been patient with us, sometimes you’ve made us work very hard. But you have always been fair(公正的) and you’ll always be our models.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all and wish you success for the future.

Find the same interests between you and your parents. For example, if you and your dad both like playing basketball, you can watch one game together and talk about it.     37    

Try to start a dinnertime talk with your parents. Ask your parents about their day, and they will be open to you more easily. Don’t forget that you should be open to them.     38     It’s also a good idea to share something about your school life. Soon all of you will have a good conversation (对话).

    39     Eye contact (交流) is necessary. Don’t be bored, or they may stop talking and walk away.     40     If you listen patiently, they’ll be interested in talking to you. Then there will be a warm conversation between you and your parents.

If you follow my advice, it’s easy to get along well with (与和睦相处) your parents.

DIY is popular in the UK. It can not only save your money, but also give good results. Take care when you d    51     DIY jobs because accidents can happen. If you ever feel that you are not a    52     to go on this kind of job, then ask someone for help.

Different people like different festivals. For me, I like International Volunteer Day best. It’s on December 5th. Luckily, I was born on that day.

I once worked as a volunteer at a Children’s Hospital in a small Town in South Africa. My job was to help make the kids feel happy while they were staying in the hospital. It maybe sounds interesting. But some people can’t understand why I did it.

I did volunteering mainly because it could help build a better future for people, no matter who or where they are. In this big world, so many people are in need of help.

Look at the children in the hospital where I worked. They felt scared (害怕的) and lonely when they faced all the difficulties since their parents also had other kids to care for. So, why not try to help as many people as possible?

Volunteering in Africa and helping people there let me see other parts of this planet (星球). And volunteering at the hospital showed me a side of the world I did not know about before. I met people from all over the world who have their own ideas, experiences (经历) and dreams. We got to share so much with each other.

I really felt close to these people. We shared amazing memories (记忆) and grew together. I wanted to go back to my country with new experiences and ideas so that, together, we can help more people and make a better future for everyone.

If everyone can lend a helping hand, the world will be more and more beautiful!
