It was a sunny weekend. I went to help Grandpa _________ gardening. Grandpa gave me the shears（大剪刀）and told me to trim（修剪）the branch. When he left, I started to trim. But I felt the shears were too _________ for me, so I changed to a small pair of scissors（剪刀）.

Several hours _________, Grandpa came back. He watched me with the scissors and said, “That way will take all day.” I knew he wanted to tell me, “No, do it this way.” I used to hear that a lot. Maybe people were trying to teach me _________ to do something faster or better. But Grandpa just looked at the branch he trimmed yesterday, then back at mine. After a minute, he laughed, “Your side looks _________ than mine.” I was surprised. “You mean my way isn’t wrong?” “No. Your way works just fine.” Grandpa said, “Let’s work together. You do it your way, and I’ll do it mine.”

Then we worked as a _________. Grandpa even used my scissors when I couldn’t reach the branch. The way he used the scissors was a little strange, but I didn’t correct（纠正）_________. His way might be a little different, _________ it got the job done.

As I grew up, I still learned from other people when they _________ me new ways, but I realized the point is not always to imitate（效仿）. It is OK to do things just a little __________. Being different is fine, and that’s why I have my own ways of doing things.

On February 18th, 2022, Gu Ailing, also called Eileen Gu; got her two first prizes. She won a Women’s Freestyle Skiing Big Air（自由式滑雪女子大跳台） competition at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Gu was born in California, the US in 2003. She has a Chinese mother and an American father. She took up skiing when she was only three years old and joined a professional team in the US in 2011.

Gu also won the first prize at the World Championship（世锦赛） in 2021 and became the first player to get that in Chinese history. In fact, this cool girl became a real Chinese sports player in 2019. Her mother and grandmother always taught her to speak Chinese and told her many Chinese stories when she was young. What’s more, Gu often came to China on vacation, learning Chinese culture and enjoying Chinese food. She really loves China.

Being a famous person was hard. After her winning at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Gu faced some problems. In a TV program, an American TV reporter asked her if（是否） she had any regrets（后悔） about her fighting for China. “I don’t have any regrets about my decision. Many people told me that because of me, they felt like they were better as a person. And they were 100 percent behind me. I really appreciate it.” Gu answered.
