Wyatt sat on the raft with everyone else and pass through a deep canyon. Their guide Brody warned them the rapids.

La’eeb, the mascot of the 2022 Qatar World Cup in Doha, with its special look, is popular all over the world. La’eeb may be an idea born in the Middle East, but it grows up in Dongguan, Guangdong.

The design of La’eeb is a kind of traditional clothing of Arab, with a snow-white body, traditional headgear, and red printed Qatari patterns at the corner of the cloth. When it runs after a football, it looks like a jumping dumpling.

La’eeb’s special shape made the toy design slow and hard. The production of La’eeb faced two challenges: one was to make La’eeb, a mascot with no arms and legs, stand up. And the other was to make the toy fly freely. Double Train Culture, a company from Dongguan took the order. They designed decided the shape of La’eeb, then 3D printed the toy and improved it, and finally made a model.

The first toy was made in 2020, and the company improved it many times. Finally, La’eeb was accepted by Qatar 2022 Local Organizing Committee and FIFA after eight changes. “Winning the chance of producing the soccer match’s mascot feels like winning the chance of holding the FIFA World Cup,” Chen Leigang, the CEO of the company said.

With La’eeb’s popularity, the Chinese town Dongguan is successful in getting a place in World Cup history.

Inside the room, Colin looked tired and ill as usual. But he turned his pale face to Mary and said, “this afternoon I’ll see it! I’m thinking about what it’ll look like”

“The garden?” Mary asked.

“The springtime,” he said. “I’ve never seen it. When you ran in and said ‘It’s coming!’ I felt quite special, as if things were coming with music.”

“How funny!” Mary said. “That’s just what it feels like. If all the flowers, leaves, and bird danced, I’m sure that would be the music”.

Colin was carried outside and put in his wheelchair. Dickon began to push it slowly. Mary followed and Colin lifted his face up. The sky looked high. The clouds looked like birds. The wind came with sweetness. Colin was lifting his thin chest to enjoy the air.

When they came to the ivy walls, the excited feeling made them begin to whisper “This is where I used to walk up and down,” said Mary.

“Is it?” Colin asked. “But there’s no door.”

A few metres more, Mary whispered again. “This is where the bird flew over the wall.”

“Is it?” Colin said. “I wish the bird would come again!”

“And that,” said Mary, pointing under a tree. “Is where it showed me the key.”

Colin sat up.

“Where? There?” Colin asked.

“And this,” said Mary, walking to the ivy walls. “Is where I talked to it. And this is the ivy the wind blew back”

“Oh! is it—is it!” Colin cried.

“Here’s the door. Dickon, push him in—quickly!” Mary cried.

Dickon did it with one strong, steady push.

They were inside the garden and the chair stopped as if by magic.

Colin looked into the garden. Over walls and trees, the green leaves crept. In the garden, at everywhere were touches of gold, purple and white. ▲ Mary and Dickon looked at Colin in surprise. He looked so different because a pink color was creeping all over him—face, neck and hands and all.

“I shall get well!” he cried out. “Mary! Dickon! I shall live forever and ever!”
