He was a teacher who worked at a university. ________ the age of 90, he still worked eight hours a day. Zu Wenbao is a 23-year-old Chinese student with autism (自闭症). He grew up in a small village in Heilongjiang. Autism is a developmental disability (发育性残疾) that makes it hard for some people to talk with others.

That means it can be hard for a person with autism to find a job or make friends. There are about 14 million people in China with this kind of illness. There is not much support for people like Zu. For him, the recent years of COVID-19 are more difficult. But he is doing better now because he is learning music and spending time with other young people at a school called Chen Shensi’s Music Studio in Beijing. Chen’s studio started offering (提供) music lessons to people with autism for free when COVID started.

Zu’s mother brings her son to the music studio every Sunday so that he can study with the teacher Chen. It takes them two hours on three different buses to get to the classroom from their home outside of Beijing. ▲ Because at Chen’s studio, Zu can learn how to play the keyboards and sing in a band called “Star Kids”, Zu feels that he is part of the world.

“Without music, without these lessons, he wouldn’t have anything.” Zu’s mother said. Although Zu is older than the other young people at Chen’s studio, “They all take care of him like he is their brother.” Zu’s mother added.

Through Chen’s hard work, more and more people with autism can learn music and improve themselves at his studio. Chen thinks it’s meaningful for him to help people with autism. He said, “COVID has been hard, and I want to do as much as I can to give people with autism joy through music and I believe people will join me to help them in the future.”

④Why do we need to build cities under the sea? There are so many changes such as the worse and fast process of global warming (全球变暖), deforestation (森林砍伐), glacier fusion (冰川融化), sea level rise, and so on. All of the changes impact on the earth badly. Therefore, it can be imagined that most of the land will be under water in the future, and living in space will be more difficult than living under water according to a lot of scientific studies.

⑤How to build an “underwater city”? There is such an “underwater city” project in Bulgaria. In the middle of this sea area, a small town is built up with a huge dam (堤坝). This “underwater city” can hold more than 5000 people, which is pretty large under the sea.

⑥If the “underwater city” can be successfully built in the future, it will not only offer humans a place to live, rich food resources and new industrial energy sources, but also help to improve the situation of population pressure and resource shortage (短缺) of the earth. Let’s just wait and see what will happen in the near future.

Chinese runner Su Bingtian made history by becoming the first Asian athlete to compete in the men’s 100m final at the World Athletics Championships (世界锦标赛). Su set a national record in the semi-final with a time of 9.99 seconds to become one of the nine fastest men in the world.

“In my dreams, I never expected to reach the final of the World Championships and now that I’ve done it, I still can’t believe it has happened and I want to thank my coach (教练) because he helped me a lot. I can hardly succeed without his help.” Su said after the semi-final.

However, his coach said Su did not have the talent of a runner. Su is only 172cm tall. Besides, compared with other countries, China’s running career (事业) starts later, and few runners choose sprint (短跑) as a lifelong career.

Although it was a challenge for Su to start his career when he was 15, which is quite late for a runner, Su overcame all the difficulties because of his spirit (精神) of never giving up. His coach said, “I think that’s one of the reasons for his success.”

What’s more, to make his dream come true, he kept on training for a long time every day. He felt worried every time he had to stop training because of his injuries (伤病), but Su strongly believes that only through hard work, can one get success.
