Because of this, the day is called “Dragon Head-raising Day” (Longtaitou). This year, it falls on March 4. Old people believed that after Longtaitou, there would be more rain. And rain is very important to farming. So Longtaitou was the start of spring and farming.

People have many ways to celebrate the Longtaitou festival. The most popular one is to have a haircut. Many believe that a haircut during the first lunar month may bring bad luck to your uncles — mainly your mother’s brothers. They hope getting a haircut on Longtaitou gets rid of bad luck.

Among Chinese people’s festival traditions, there is always a place for food. During the Longtaitou festival, people eat food named after dragons. Noodles are called dragon’s beard (longxu). Dumplings are dragon’s ears (long’er). And spring rolls are dragon’s scales (鳞片) (longlin).

People also hold activities like dragon dancing on the day. In some places in Shandong province, people make dragon lanterns (灯笼) too. Small reed (芦苇) boats go down the rivers and carry the lanterns, which stand for people’s best wishes and good luck.

I was so excited! The school talent show was coming up. I really like singing and I wanted to get up on the stage. I signed up (报名) immediately.

Then came the first audition (试演). I was in such a hurry that I didn’t get fully prepared. But I still did my best. Since it was my first time singing in front of so many people, I was really nervous. When I finished, the only problem was that I wasn’t loud enough. For the rest of the week, I practiced hard to improve it. It was really a challenge for me because I am a quiet girl. But I know I have to get over it.

I chose the song A Little Happiness (《小幸运》). When I practiced in my free time, I realized that you never know how hard it is to sing a song before you actually sing it, especially onstage. I needed to not only focus on the song, but also my facial expressions. During my audition, I even forgot my lyrics (歌词). But as I kept practicing, I got better and better.

On the day we performed, only about 30 people came to the show I took a deep breath and tried to be confident. The show was successful, and we did our best.

Because of COVID-19, students couldn't go to school. When schools tried to prepare for the new term, they found a new way of teaching: live streaming（直播）.

When teachers gave lessons in their homes, students watched them on their computers at home. The online class was just like the offline（离线）one. The teacher could ask questions and talk with students. The teacher can even see the students through（通过）some apps. If someone didn't listen carefully, the teacher could even point the camera at him or her, like calling him or her out in front of the whole class. The experience（经历）was like that in a real classroom.

Many students liked the online classes because they were more interesting. However, some people didn't think it was a good idea. They think students didn't listen carefully and it wasn't easy for each teacher to give lessons in this way. Many elder teachers thought it was difficult to teach through their mobile phones.

As a new way of teaching, live streaming also has its advantages. Unlike traditional（传统的）classrooms, online ones let teachers and students share resources（资源）more easily. They also let teachers use more technologies（科技）.

It's hoped that more technologies enter classrooms and make teaching more efficient（有效率的）. And people can still work, have classes and do most things at home.
