One day, an ant (蚂蚁) was trying to find food for the winter. After she found a lot of food, she felt good about herself. When she sat on the road side to rest, she saw a caterpillar (毛毛虫).

“Good morning,” the caterpillar said.

The ant looked at the caterpillar and thought arrogantly (傲慢地), “Ah, he is really an ugly (难看的) caterpillar. But I’m pretty, and hard-working!” Then she replied, “Morning. Where are you going?”

“I’m going home. It’s in the tree,” the caterpillar said.

“I should never expect an ugly caterpillar to be smart. It’s dangerous to live up there! You should live underground (地下的), just like me,” the ant said. Then she went on her way.

Later that spring, the ant happened to be around the caterpillar’s home. She looked around but couldn’t find the caterpillar. As the sun rose over the mountains, the ant looked up. Then she saw the most beautiful butterfly flying in the sky.

“Good morning, again!” the butterfly shouted. “I’m that caterpillar!”

“Wow!” said the ant. That was all she could say.

All students may want to study in a quiet place. However, there might be many people walking around in your house. And the library is too far away or too crowded. So where should you go?

Don’t worry! There are some paid study rooms. Early study rooms for students are like bedrooms but they are small and cheap. The study rooms near schools and neighborhoods are very popular, because they are quiet and no one there disturbs (打扰) the students.

However, this kind of room may make students sleepy and not everyone wants to study alone (独自) all day, so some people made new study rooms. They took off the beds and set tables for students to study together. Also, people needn’t worry about the disturbance from others, because these tables are different from the tables in libraries. They have partitions (隔板) for helping students have a quiet place.

When we have hiccups (打嗝), normally, we do nothing about them. They just go away a few minutes later.     31     It may take them months to stop having hiccups. Now, there is a way to solve the problem.

MJ Kievman is a woman from England. To help people stop having hiccups, Kievman invented (发明) a special lollipop (棒棒糖) called Hiccupops. Why did she invent it?     32    

When she was about 12 years old, Kievman once had hiccups for around three months. She couldn’t eat or sleep well. She tried many herbs (草药) and made a special lollipop at last.     33     After hearing the news, many people came to her to ask for help. So Kievman decided to find a way to help them. She spent ten years working on it. In the end, Hiccupops came out.     34     People can still find Hiccupops at stores today.

    35     Hiccupops can’t help people with serious hiccups now. So Kievman plans to invent something useful for them in the future.
