I’m Vicky. As a foreigner in China, I think it’s _________ to live here. China has its own _________. Last year, a friend of mine _________ me to his hometown in Shaanxi during the Tomb-sweeping Day (清明节). During my stay, I saw some strange rituals (老规矩) there. My friend’s family went to visit the family’s tombstones (墓碑) in the morning. After cleaning them, they began to _________ food, tea, and chopsticks. It was strange for me at first. But I understood later that those rituals are their ways to miss their beloved ones (挚爱之人). The experience made me find out how important the family is in the _________ culture. It’s something _________ from the western world where the familial bond (家庭纽带) is not so strong. A Chinese family might not always get together but they still keep very close.

Another good thing about living in China is the Chinese people’s hospitality (好客). _________ once took a trip to Zhangjiajie. The kangaroo is one of the symbols of Australia. There are many different types of kangaroos. Most of them live in the wild. Most of them eat plants, and some eat fungi (真菌). Kangaroos usually come out to look for food at night. Adult kangaroos jump with their long and strong back legs. Sometimes they can jump up to 4 metres, and the farthest jump is nearly 13 metres.

However, they are very small when they are born. Baby kangaroos are just 2 centimetres long and weigh (重) about 1 gram at birth. They stay in their mothers’ pouches (育儿袋). When the baby kangaroos are about 7 months old, they begin to leave their mothers’ pouches and learn how to look after themselves. After 1 year, they stop drinking their mothers’ milk. They live on their own, but they still need their mothers’ help and protection till they are 3-4 years old.
