Where did you go yesterday? Did you hear music at any of those places? There is a good chance that you did. Today most stores and restaurants play music. You might even hear music in an office or on a farm.
Scientists believe that music affects the way people behave. According to some scientists, the sound of western classical music(Mozart and Bach) makes people feel richer. When a restaurant plays classical music, people spend more money on food and drinks. When the restaurant plays modern music, people spend less money. With no background music, people spend even less.
Scientists also believe that loud, fast music makes people eat faster. People actually chew their food faster when the music gets faster. Some restaurants play fast music during their busy hours. This gets people to eat faster and leave quickly. Restaurants can make more money this way.
Some scientists think that music makes you think and learn better. They say that music helps students to be more alert. It is true that people learn better when they are relaxed. And listening to music can help you relax.

In East London, a new museum built for children is opening its door. The newly opened Young V&A is a three-year project, which has collected creativity and advice from more than 22,000 children, teachers and young people. In it, all kinds of things important to children are laid out, including books, toys, and even superheroes.
Young V&A has three galleries (展览馆): Imagine, Play and Design. With different hands-on activities, they were built to meet the needs of children of all ages. There are colorful things for babies to touch, performing and story-telling areas for young readers and writers to use, an open design studio where children can learn from famous artists, and modern shows for teens to enjoy. Different from traditional museums, Young V&A invites visitors to touch the things on show, and being loud is part of their visit. Besides, the museum also encourages playful learning. “This is a museum for playing, imagining, designing and hanging out with your friends,” said Helen Chairman, director of Young V&A.
Young V&A was known as the Museum of Childhood in the past, but people have spent about £13 million making the recent shift—it’s now shining as a museum for children.

One night, John came into the stable, calling,“Wake up, Beauty!”
He put my saddle and bridle on and rode up to the front door of the house. Squire Gordon was standing there.
“John,” he said, “Mrs. Gordon is very ill. Ride to the doctor’s and give him this note.”
“Now, Beauty, do your best.” said John. I went as fast as possible. When we arrived at Dr. White’s house, John told him, “Mrs. Gordon is very ill. Squire Gordon thinks she is going to die. Please go to her immediately.” “Yes, but my son has my horse,” said the doctor, “Can I have yours?” he asked.
The doctor was heavier than John, and not such a good rider. But I did my very best and went as fast as possible. When we got to Berwick Park, Squire Gordon was at the door. The doctor went into the house with him, and Joe led me to the stable. I was glad to be home. My legs were shaking, and I was very wet. Joe was young and he forgot to put a warm blanket on me. Then he gave me cold water to drink. Soon all my body began to shake, and I felt very cold. A long time later, John came back. He covered me with two or three warm blankets, and ran to the house for some hot water. He gave me some warm food, and then I thought I went to sleep.
Over and over again, John said to himself, “Stupid boy! Stupid boy!”
I was now very sick, and John was nursing me night and day. When Squire Gordon came to see me, John said, “Black Beauty went so fast, he seemed to know what was wrong.”
