文章大意:本文主要讲述了犯错有助于我们调整自己,并给自己从错误中学习的机会,让自己下次做得更好。

①How do you feel when you make a mistake? No one likes making mistakes. It often makes you feel unhappy. However, the feeling you get after making a mistake helps your brain adjust (调整) itself and learn. For example, you can’t learn how to ride a bike without falling off it, or make friends without sometimes saying things you regret. Getting things wrong helps us adjust ourselves, so we can do things differently.

. Accepting and learning from our mistakes gives us the courage to try harder next time. Psychologists (心理学家) at Michigan State University call this a “growth mindset”. A growth mindset means you see failure as something you can learn from, instead of something you regret. Elsie, 13, said it was hard to accept mistakes but they made her a better learner. “I once made a cake that came out like two big biscuits. I was upset but I realized I hadn’t read the cookbook properly. Now I always read the cookbook twice.”

③Alexandra Eidens from a magazine for kids said we should be open to mistakes because learning from them can help us believe in ourselves and face difficulties bravely. Try talking about one of our mistakes with family or friends. Whether the experience is funny or painful, sharing the story with others will help make it clear how the mistake happened. Eidens also suggests writing down our mistakes. She believes it gives us a chance of self-expression, creativity and learning. It’s also a good way for us to learn from our mistakes.

8. How does the writer mainly support his idea in Paragraph 1?
A.By telling stories.B.By comparing facts.
C.By listing numbers.D.By giving examples.
9. Which of the following can be the best topic sentence (中心句) of Paragraph 2?
A.Mistakes are part of learning.B.Be happy to face mistakes.
C.Try to avoid making mistakes.D.Read the cookbook before cooking.
10. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A.Believing in ourselves.B.Writing down our mistakes.
C.Learning from our mistakes.D.Sharing the stories with others.
11. What’s the best title for the passage?
A.Trying to avoid mistakes.B.The fear of making mistakes.
C.Getting lessons from mistakes.D.The reason for making mistakes.

文章大意:本文主要讲述了很多人为了可以吃到安全又营养的蘑菇,在家种蘑菇,文中讲述了种植的方法和注意事项。

Mushrooms are tasty and rich in healthy nutrients (营养物), which makes some people collect them in the wild. However, eating the wrong mushrooms can make you sick or even dead. Therefore, growing mushrooms yourself inside your own home is getting popular.

There are two ways to do this. You can buy a set of materials from a garden store called a “grow kit (工具包)” or you can put them together yourself.

Grow kits (GK)

Grow kits are a great way for beginners to try growing mushrooms. These grow kits include partly-grown mushroom starters, called “spawn” (菌种体). The spawn is set in soil (土壤) and is planted in its own grow box. You put the spawn in water overnight. Then you return it to the box and open it to fresh air. Water it twice a day.

Within two or three weeks, you will be eating mushrooms with more on the way. It is fun and easy.

Putting them together yourself (PTTY)

If you want a larger harvest, it will cost less to put the materials together yourself. It is easy, too.

For starters, you will need a wooden, metal, or plastic box and some soil mixed with compost (肥料) and other materials. You will also need to buy fungal spores (真菌孢子) (something like seeds).

With clean hands, fill the box with your soil and materials. Put the spores evenly over the soil substance (物质) and water it twice a day gently.

To grow quickly and effectively, the spore-topped soil material should be kept away from direct sunlight. It should be kept at or close to 21℃. Put a piece of cloth lightly over the top of the box to keep moisture (水分) in. But do not cover it tightly (紧紧地). After it was coated with mycelium (菌丝体), move the box to a cooler place —12℃ to 15 ℃.

Mushrooms grow very quickly. With their tops fully open, they will be ready to harvest. That will be in about three to four weeks. Use a sharp, clean knife to cut them at soil level to avoid influencing nearby growth.

Do you want to taste safe and nutritious mushrooms? Grow them at home right now.

12. According to the text, what tools do we need to grow mushrooms?
A.①②③④B.②③④⑤C.①②④⑤D.①②③⑤
13. To grow quickly and effectively, what should we do with the spore-topped soil material?
A.Keep it below 12℃.B.Keep it in the direct sun light.
C.Keep it wet but not too hot.D.Covered it with a piece of cloth tightly.
14. What can we infer from the text?
A.Mushrooms in the wild are safer and more delicious.
B.Keep the soil substance wet while growing mushrooms.
C.Choose GK if you want a larger harvest and spend less money.
D.Choose GTTY if you want to eat mushrooms in a shorter time.
15. What is the text mainly about?
A.The ways to grow mushrooms at home.
B.The history of growing mushrooms at home.
C.The reason for growing mushrooms at home.
D.The difficulty in growing mushrooms at home.
