But now a smartphone helps us pay for goods in the markets. For the 20 years, the number of the cars has increased _______. We can see more and more ordinary people _______ cars or planning to buy cars. So there are fewer and fewer bikes on the road. For a long time we have learned about the 3Rs, but now there are two more in the mix. 5Rs are Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle, in that order. The order of the Rs is also important. The closer to the start of the list, the more important it is. Let’s start from our lifestyles!

Refuse

Our lives are full of things we don’t need, and each of them has an environmental cost. Think it over when buying. Just deciding not to spend $100 on things our family doesn’t want can save 100kg greenhouse gas pollution!

Reduce

To reduce is to use fewer resources. Before buying for children, give yourself at least a day or two to cool off. Only buy what is necessary to children. Always ask your children to turn off the lights or computers when they are not using them.

Reuse

Almost everything we throw away in our daily lives will become litter and harm the planet in other ways. We can save resources by reusing. Reuse means using again. Have you given away your children’s clothes that they can’t wear to others? Or, we can use the cloth napkins and empty cans once again or more.

Repurpose

Simply take something you are no longer using and change it for another more practical use. Think, help your children use old newspapers for art projects.

Recycle

To recycle is to make new things from old things. In our home, anything made from metal, wood, paper and most plastics is possible to be recycled.

Athletes from various countries displayed the charm of competition sports during Beijing Winter Olympics. One of the reasons why this Winter Olympics can be successfully held is the robots who work hard behind the scenes.

In the dining hall, instead of human waiters, food arrives from the ceiling. To our surprise, the cooking robot can make delicious dishes according to the programs; food even like burgers are being prepared automatically.

It doesn’t stop there. Elsewhere in the media center, a robotic arm is serving up cocktails. It takes just 70-90 seconds to measure, shake and serve.

Look at this robot. Although it is only 140 cm tall, it only takes one minute to sterilize (灭菌) 36 square meters. The space even more than 1,000 square meters can be easily dealt by itself. The robot can hold 16 liters of disinfection (消毒) water at one time, and spray (喷雾) around through the small fan above its head.

As space science develops, man has learned more and more about space. Space is not only amazing but also dangerous. While working in space, spacemen are facing dangers as well as interests.

Scientists have found out that radiation（辐射）is the greatest danger to spacemen in space. When spacemen are working in space, they are in danger of radiation from the sun and other stars, which is bad for their health. The damage（危害）done by radiation won’t be discovered until their children or even grandchildren are born. Some special medicine works a little, but no really helpful medicine has been produced.

Space junk（垃圾）is also thought a great danger to spacemen. It’s reported that there are 9,000 man-made things flying in space. About 30% of these are satellites, 10% are spaceships, and the rest is space junk. Scientists are watching and reporting any possible danger all the time. They are working on helpful ways to do with space junk.

Although space is really dangerous, it interests everyone on the earth. In the near future, it may become usual for people to spend a few days in a space hotel. We may even choose to leave the earth or live in space in a few years. So we should care for space and do something to help improve the space environment.

Humans are born with the ability to communicate, but some people are better at it than others. Some people are very good at words, and find it easy to express     43     (they) well.
